PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Abbot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brew Master (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Abbot comes to the cage accompanied by Primative. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tony Abbot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brew Master!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbot misses with a straight left.
Abbot thows a body shot but no joy.
Master throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Master misses with an uppercut.
Abbot feints a jab promting Master to slip. Abbot then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Master slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Abbot misses the shot to the body.
Master digs a good body shot into Abbot's ribs.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Abbot slips under a jab.
Abbot has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Basics -LOD- in the buildup to the fight.
Abbot throws a big shot that misses.
Abbot keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Master scores with a push kick.
Master uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Abbot.
Master tries to bum rush Abbot with a series of wild strikes but Abbot uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Master misses with a hook
and Master takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Master ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Abbot moves away.
Master misses with a looping right.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Master misses with a looping left.
Master moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Master takes a jab right on the kisser.
Master connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Master misses with a wild body shot.
Abbot throws a lazy right hand but Master sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Abbot misses with a right hand
and Master counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A swing and a miss from Abbot.
Master misses with a wild combination.
Abbot throws a right hand that misses
and Master counters with a leg kick.
Abbot changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Abbot keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Abbot lands with an uppercut that bounces Master off the cage and back into range.
Abbot lands with a right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abbot swings widly with a right hand

and Master counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Abbot!
Abbot tries to improve position but can't.
Abbot sneaks back into half guard.
Master throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Abbot has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Master is working away from the top position though.
Master looks to land a strike but Abbot avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
Master trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Master throws a strike but Abbot rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Master has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abbot can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Abbot sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Master's guard.

Abbot prevents Master from improving his position.
Abbot trying to control the action but Master is working from the bottom.
Master is looking to improve his position.
Abbot moves nicely into side control.
Master is looking to reverse the position.
Master is still trying to improve position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Abbot has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Abbot wants to control the pace but Master is squirming around nicely.
Master stops Abbot from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Master wants to control but Abbot is having none of it.
Abbot fails to advance to Master's back.
We've been informed that Master has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Master is working to get back to half guard.
Abbot fails to move to back control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Master tries to hold on but Abbot postures up.

Abbot working for a guillotine from mount but Master is in no mood to give up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tony Abbot will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Master lands a nice shot to the body.
A looping hook to the body misses from Master. Abbot does a little dance to reset his feet.
Abbot misses with a left hand

and Master counters with a shoot takedown. Abbot fights it but they end up in guard.
Master with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Master really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abbot. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Abbot looking for a sweep. Not yet Abbot, not yet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Abbot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Abbot seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Master does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Master desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Abbot seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Abbot works his foot free and advances to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Master is in all sorts of trouble here.

Abbot has control of Master's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Master regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Master is looking to get to half guard.
Master sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Brew Master has got the better of the ground game so far.
Master trying to hold on to Abbot's head to control him but Abbot postures up.
Master is trying to get back to full guard.
Abbot is thwarting Master's attempts to control the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Abbot seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Master is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Tony Abbot!
Tony Abbot was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
