Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Skunky Monkey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Willy Gilligan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Skunky Monkey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Willy Gilligan! The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monkey fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Gilligan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monkey was well out of range. Poor timing from Gilligan. Skunky Monkey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gilligan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Gilligan looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gilligan moves into range and clinches up with Monkey. Gilligan breaks from the clinch.
Gilligan avoids the body shot from Monkey.
Monkey lands with a good body shot. Gilligan takes one to the side of the head.
Monkey cracks a nice hook into Gilligan's ribs. Monkey throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Monkey looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A looping hook to the body misses from Gilligan. Monkey does a little dance to reset his feet. Monkey takes a swing at Gilligan's ribcage but misses. Monkey scores with a jab. Gilligan acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Gilligan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Skunky Monkey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monkey misses with a low kick. Monkey lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gilligan at a distance.
Monkey pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Monkey uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Gilligan. Monkey scores with a jab. Gilligan just misses with a punch to the body.
Gilligan takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Monkey connects with a single shot there. Gilligan looking to score a takedown here. Monkey is defending well but Gilligan drives through and ends up in Monkey's guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Monkey tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gilligan trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Gilligan is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Gilligan wants to control from the top but Monkey keeps moving. Gilligan throws a big right hand that misses.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gilligan pushing down on Monkey's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Gilligan works his foot free and advances to mount. Monkey avoids a strike by Gilligan and manages to complete a very nice reversal in the process, to end up in Gilligan's guard! Fantastic escape!

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilligan working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Monkey. Monkey stays in close to Gilligan's body and controls the position. Gilligan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Monkey's guard. Monkey working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gilligan. Gilligan trying to control the position from guard on top but Monkey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Skunky Monkey dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Gilligan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gilligan missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Monkey is staying active underneath Gilligan, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gilligan tries to pass to full mount but Monkey defends it. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Gilligan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Willy Gilligan was stalling too much, according to the referee. Gilligan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Gilligan ducks under a wild hook from Monkey. Monkey tries a head kick but it misses.
Gilligan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Monkey sees it coming and avoids it easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Good shot there by Monkey. Gilligan takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Gilligan fails with a takedown attempt. Monkey moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Gilligan thows a left - swing and a miss! Monkey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Gilligan takes a shot right to the bread basket.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Monkey, as that shot connected.

Monkey jabbing away but nothing is landing. Monkey swings for the body but Gilligan moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Gilligan tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Monkey misses with a combination
and Gilligan counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Monkey's guard now. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Monkey wants to sweep but no luck. Monkey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Monkey utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Gilligan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gilligan wants to control from the top but Monkey keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Skunky Monkey will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Monkey cracks Gilligan with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Monkey looks to throw the jab but Gilligan is out of range. Monkey throws a hook to the side of Gilligan's head but Gilligan sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Gilligan drops his hands momentarily and Monkey takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Monkey cracks a nice hook into Gilligan's ribs. Monkey ducks under a wild hook from Gilligan. Gilligan is really struggling to land any decent head shots against his taller opponent. Gilligan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Monkey connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Gilligan momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A telegraphed right hand from Monkey misses the target. Gilligan blocks a jab. Monkey keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Gilligan. Monkey lands a head shot. Gilligan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

Monkey tests Gilligan's chin there with a solid looking shot. A swing and a miss from Gilligan. Jab, jab by Monkey - just one landing. Monkey misses with an uppercut. Gilligan saw that one coming.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gilligan drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Gilligan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Monkey.

Monkey connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Skunky Monkey is winning the standup battle so far. Gilligan lands a nice looking body shot.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Monkey can't keep his opponent in guard - Gilligan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Gilligan not landing any meaningful shots this time. Gilligan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Monkey's head. Gilligan missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Monkey on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Monkey tries to get out of the position.

Gilligan looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Monkey avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gilligan. Gilligan is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Monkey sees it coming and defends easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Gilligan missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Skunky Monkey showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Monkey, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Skunky Monkey! Skunky Monkey decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
