PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between John Fadden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Yomata (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Kenji Yomata was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Fadden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kenji Yomata!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Daniel Franklin and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fadden connects with a right hand. Yomata shakes it off.
Yomata shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Fadden eats them both and turns towards Yomata to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Some wild striking there from Fadden.
Yomata rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fadden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fadden swats away the attempt to clinch by Yomata.

Fadden gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Fadden manages to break the clinch.
Yomata looks to score with a jab to the body but Fadden is just out of range.
Fadden seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Yomata shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Fadden closes the distance and clinches.
Fadden avoids the elbow strike from Yomata, against the cage.
A short right from Fadden on the inside.
Fadden lands with a short punch from the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yomata tries a knee to the head but Fadden blocks it.
Fadden blocks the elbow strike.
Fadden tries to pull guard but Yomata forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Fadden lands a left hand that snaps the head of Yomata backwards.
Fadden lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Yomata.

Fadden breaks the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Fadden throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Yomata tumbling to the canvas!


Yomata is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Yomata bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fadden's guard.
Yomata is still in real trouble! Can Fadden finish him?
Fadden wants to sweep here but Yomata controlling him for the moment.
Fadden seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Fadden tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Fadden is working hard here to advance position.
Yomata showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Yomata seems to have recovered his senses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Yomata wants to clinch up but Fadden keeps it at a distance.

Yomata instigates a clinch.
Fadden pushes Yomata back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Fadden misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Yomata.
Fadden stalling in the clinch.
Fadden is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Yomata is defending well for now.

Fadden pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Fadden moves into the clinch.
Yomata swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Fadden tries to land knees in the clinch but Yomata avoids the damage to the body.

Fadden breaks from the clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Yomata looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fadden will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Yomata shoots in but no luck this time.
Yomata throws a lazy right hand but Fadden sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Fadden tries to bum rush Yomata with a series of wild strikes but Yomata uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Fadden rushes Yomata and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Fadden breaks the clinch.

Fadden darts in and clinches Yomata up against the cage.
Nice elbow from Fadden.
A short right from Fadden on the inside.
Fadden lands a shot to the body.

Fadden's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fadden connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Yomata! He's out on his feet! Fadden rushes in and drops Yomata with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:09 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). John Fadden!
A pretty intense looking John Fadden took the opportunity post-fight to ask for a shot at the title.
