The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holloway has taken the fight to the clinch.
Holloway misses with a hook from the clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Holloway.
Holloway working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Holloway scores a nice knee to the body.
Silveira wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Silveira takes an elbow to the temple.
Silveira takes an elbow to the forehead.
Holloway lands a shoulder strike.
Holloway has Silveira pressed against the cage, preventing Silveira from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Holloway crunches a lovely knee into Silveira's ribcage.
Silveira wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Holloway blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Holloway creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Silveira's defenses.
Silveira is trying to break the clinch but Holloway is controlling him.
Holloway lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Silveira backwards.
Silveira takes an elbow to the temple.
Silveira is rocked!
Holloway has Silveira pressed up against the cage in a tight Thai clinch. Silveira is arching his back, trying to avoid the knees but a big one sneaks through from Holloway - that's hurt Silveira badly! Oh, another knee lands and Silveira is covering up! The referee steps in to save him - possibly a bit early but Silveira doesn't seem to be complaining.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knees). Max Holloway!
Max Holloway was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
