PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Storm (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dan Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Storm gets a takedown into half guard.
Storm lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Barnes landing strikes from the bottom.

Storm thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Storm is nestled in close to Barnes, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Storm throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Barnes is refusing to be controlled, as Storm sits in half guard.

Storm throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Barnes works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Barnes is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Storm presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Storm is working for takedown but Barnes is calmly controlling the position for now.

Storm looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Storm turns into Barnes and is now in his guard.
Storm missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Storm knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Barnes on the ground.
Barnes wants to sweep here but Storm controlling him for the moment.
Barnes controls Storm momentarily but Storm frees himself.

Storm throws an elbow that misses. Barnes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Storm's guard. Nice move by Barnes!
Barnes won't allow Storm to get back to his feet.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Storm is pulling down on Barnes's head. It's preventing any offense from Barnes, at least for the moment.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Storm connects with a nice short shot to Barnes's temple.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnes is trying to get back to full guard.
Storm looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barnes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Storm drops an elbow to the side of Barnes's head.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Barnes tries to kick Storm off but Storm keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Barnes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Barnes fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Storm avoids it really well and circles away.
Barnes takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Barnes has his foot on Storm's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Storm works his way back into a safe position though.
