Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matti Meikalainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Karl Eriksson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matti Meikalainen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Karl Eriksson! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Phil Schofield.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Eriksson feints and then cracks Meikalainen's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Meikalainen down. Matti Meikalainen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meikalainen avoids the body shot from Eriksson.
A looping hook to the body misses from Eriksson. Meikalainen does a little dance to reset his feet. Meikalainen moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Meikalainen ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Meikalainen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Eriksson looks to land a combination but Meikalainen avoids it well. Meikalainen has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. A telegraphed right hand from Meikalainen misses the target. Meikalainen scores with the left hand. Eriksson knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Karl Eriksson has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Meikalainen looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Meikalainen closes the distance and clinches. Meikalainen swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Eriksson prevents a body shot from Meikalainen. Meikalainen scores with an uppercut up the middle. Eriksson wants to break the clinch but can't.

Meikalainen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Meikalainen tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Eriksson was well out of range. Poor timing from Meikalainen. Eriksson fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Eriksson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Meikalainen throws a chopping leg kick but Eriksson manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Meikalainen slips a jab from Eriksson. Meikalainen motions for Eriksson to come forward. Meikalainen throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Eriksson lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A punch lands to the side of Meikalainen 's head but he takes it in his stride. Eriksson throws a sloppy head kick and Meikalainen moves out of range easily. Eriksson takes a swing at Meikalainen's ribcage but misses. Meikalainen takes one on the button. This has been an exciting period of action! A shot to the liver by Eriksson. Beautiful body shot. Meikalainen uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Eriksson jabbing away but nothing is landing. Eriksson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Meikalainen finds it's way round the side to connect with Eriksson's head. Eriksson scores with a punch to the head. Meikalainen throws an overhand right that lands on Eriksson's shoulder, as Eriksson tries to avoid the shot. BOOM! Eriksson lands a beautiful left hook that drops Meikalainen. Meikalainen tries to recover but Eriksson is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Meikalainen lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Karl Eriksson!
