PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rudeboy Alonso (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Rudeboy Alonso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Frank Dux!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Francis DeMontford and Ron Honeybunn.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dux throws a right hand that misses
and Alonso counters with a left to the body.
Alonso tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Dux manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Alonso looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dux is fending him off so far but Alonso persists. Nope, Dux circles away and we're back to standing.
Dux loads up on a big right hand but Alonso slips the punch.
Alonso gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dux counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dux is thwarting Alonso's attempts to control the position.
Dux wants to stand up but Alonso has a hold of him and won't allow it.

Alonso is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dux missing with a left hand there. Alonso was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Alonso bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Dux is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Alonso.

Alonso shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dux as he avoids it easily.
Dux misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Alonso fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dux avoids it really well and circles away.
Dux rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Alonso moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Dux lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Alonso circles away quickly and effectively.

A looping hook to the body misses from Dux. Alonso does a little dance to reset his feet.

and Dux counters with a takedown into side control.
Alonso is breathing heavily.

Dux stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Dux scores with a jab.
Dux throws a big shot that misses.
Dux lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Alonso at a distance.
Alonso misses with a two punch combination.
Alonso ducks under a wild hook from Dux.
Frank Dux is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alonso has his takedown stuffed

and Dux counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Dux has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Alonso is proving hard to escape from.

Alonso tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dux tries to stand but Alonso is controlling from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dux gets to his feet - Alonso follows without any prompting.
Alonso throws a nice looking combination but Dux bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Dux throws out a loose jab but Alonso uses good head movement to avoid it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Dux tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alonso was well out of range. Poor timing from Dux.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Dux takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Alonso misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Alonso tries to close the distance and clinch but Dux swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Alonso moves into range and clinches up with Dux.
Dux tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Dux - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Alonso tries to break the clinch but Dux is controlling the position.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Dux takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Dux in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

Alonso throws the kick towards the body but Dux avoids it.
Alonso moves in looking to clinch but Dux pushes him off.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Frank Dux showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Frank Dux is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Alonso knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dux on the ground.

Alonso has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Dux uses from the top position.

Dux might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Frank Dux comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dux has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
