Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Crasher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Spike Gomes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomes has chosen Johnny Cash - Hurt as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Johnny Crasher has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Crasher! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spike Gomes! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Ben Hemmingworth and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomes fails with a takedown attempt. Gomes fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gomes with a poor takedown and Crasher counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Johnny Crasher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spike Gomes. Gomes shoots in for a takedown but Crasher shows good takedown defense. Gomes with a poor takedown and Crasher makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Gomes shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Crasher manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Crasher has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Gomes has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Crasher successfully pulls guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Crasher's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Crasher is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Gomes wants to control from the top but Crasher keeps moving. Gomes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Gomes sitting in guard here, content to control.

Spike Gomes has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Crasher gets a double leg takedown into Gomes's guard. Crasher looking to pass the guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Crasher's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Crasher throws a big right hand that misses. Gomes is trying to keep Crasher in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Gomes wants to stand and escape but Crasher is having none of it. Crasher trying to control but Gomes is working from the bottom. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Johnny Crasher just wasn't active enough. The fight moves into the clinch position. Gomes pulls guard effortlessly. Gomes is trying to control the position but Crasher postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crasher is fighting to break Gomes's control of his arms but Gomes is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Gomes looking to hit a scissor sweep but Crasher is one step ahead there.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Spike Gomes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Gomes shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Crasher counters by moving into the clinch. Gomes is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Crasher is defending well. Crasher breaks from the clinch.
Gomes gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Crasher prevents Gomes from getting back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gomes keeping moving, preventing Crasher from controlling successfully. Crasher looking to control the position here, rather than advance. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Crasher pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Johnny Crasher. Crasher fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Gomes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Crasher defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomes. Gomes is breathing heavily. Crasher keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Johnny Crasher is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Crasher clinches. Crasher gets control of Gomes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Crasher will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnny Crasher has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Spike Gomes. Gomes throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Crasher's waist but Crasher gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gomes off to one side. Crasher throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Gomes fails with the takedown and Crasher counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Crasher shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Crasher showed some decent athleticism there.
Gomes is rocked! Gomes takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Crasher is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Gomes has managed to free his arm - good work. Gomes wants to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Crasher stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Crasher defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gomes. Crasher keeps Gomes at a distance using the push kick. Crasher has a takedown stuffed. Gomes is trying hard to land a takedown here. Crasher sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Crasher drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Crasher controlling the position. Crasher trying to control the position but Gomes is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Crasher controlling from side mount.
We're going to have a standup here because Johnny Crasher wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Gomes gets the takedown into side control. Gomes is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Crasher has escaped the position, nice work there. Gomes is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Crasher is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Crasher tries to bench press Gomes off him but Gomes keeps the position. You can see the frustration on Crasher's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Gomes is trying to get an arm triangle but Crasher is defending well. Gomes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Crasher knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Crasher wants to control but Gomes postures up.
And that's the end of the fight! Johnny Crasher showed his dominance in that final round. Well Crasher has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
