1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Ross! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ross with a poor takedown letting Hodges counter with a right hand. Ross shoots for a double leg takedown but Hodges sprawls well. He's pushed Ross's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ross dodges the punch combination from Hodges.
Hodges could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hodges tries to clinch but Ross moves out of range. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ross is defended easily by Hodges. Lynwood Hodges has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Ross. Ross shoots in but no luck this time. Ross tries for a takedown but Hodges circles away easily and Hodges counters with a stiff right hand. Rick Ross seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ross looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Hodges wants to get back to full guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ross in particular looking to stall. Hodges has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ross is working away from the top position though. Hodges wants to get back to full guard. Ross is figuring out what he wants to do next. Hodges makes his way to full guard. OK we're going to have a standup here. Rick Ross hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Ross fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hodges avoids it really well and circles away. Ross fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ross looks winded! Ross fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Ross has his takedown stuffed and Hodges counters with a left to the body. Ross shoots in and drives through. Hodges sprawls well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ross with a poor takedown and Hodges makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Hodges cracks Ross with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Ross misses with a takedown and Hodges counters with a three punch combo that has Ross backing up. Ross nods at Hodges to acknowledge the strikes. Hodges stalks Ross and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ross's face. Ross staggers backwards, shaken. Ross with a poor takedown and Hodges counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Ross shoots in for a takedown but Hodges shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hodges fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hodges gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hodges tries to work over Ross's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ross tries to score a body lock takedown but Hodges shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Ross takes a knee to the side of the body. Ross tries for a takedown but Hodges manages to get underhooks.

That was a close round but I would say that Lynwood Hodges will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

That's going to take a lot out of Rick Ross. Ross shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hodges counters with a head kick. That will keep Ross thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Ross tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Hodges defends well and Ross ends up having to push Hodges into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Ross is breathing heavily. Hodges has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Nice body punch from Hodges.

A frustrated look appears on Hodges's face as he tries to break the clinch. Hodges lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ross backwards. Hodges lands a knee to the body.

Ross doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hodges counters with a head kick. That will keep Ross thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Hodges lands a jab to the nose. Hodges tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Ross shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Ross takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Lynwood Hodges is winning the standup battle so far. Hodges clinches. Hodges connects with a nasty looking knee right to Ross's face.
Hodges wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ross has him pressed against the cage. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Hodges unloads a knee to the mid-section. Ross lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh. Ross wants to take the fight to the mat but Hodges manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hodges is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Ross is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Ross is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ross stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hodges swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hodges bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ross's guard. Hodges missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Hodges in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Hodges throwing strikes from guard but Ross blocks nicely. Ross has his hands on Hodges's head, controlling the position. Ross's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Ross tries for a takedown but Hodges sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Ross takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ross.

Hodges lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ross circles away quickly and effectively. Hodges thuds a left hand into Ross's body. Hodges rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ross moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ross misses with a takedown attempt and Hodges counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Ross thinking. Hodges tries to clinch but Ross moves out of range. Hodges misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight! Lynwood Hodges showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hodges, winning every round. Will the judges agree?
