Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Milton Mills! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Rubey! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mills avoids a punch combination nicely.
Rubey paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Rubey lands a head shot. The fighters circling - Rubey throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Rubey swings for the body but Mills moves out of range.
Rubey wants to clinch. Rubey lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Rubey slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Mills circles away from the clinch attempt.
Mills tried to score with a low kick but Rubey checks it. Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Rubey. Mills shrugs it off though. Rubey lands a nice shot that snaps Mills's head back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubey moves out of range of the strikes. Rubey has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Mills misses the shot to the body. Rubey circles away from the clinch attempt.
Rubey connects with the punch. Rubey avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Rubey throws out a loose jab but Mills uses good head movement to avoid it. Mills changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rubey tries to avoid it but Mills manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rubey to the ground. Rubey escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Chris Rubey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mills closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Mills trying to control the action but Rubey is working from the bottom. Rubey wants to control but Mills postures up. Rubey felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. The strikes coming from Mills are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Mills swings around for an armbar but Rubey sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Mills's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rubey controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rubey postures up in Mills's guard and throws a big left but Mills blocks it. Rubey throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mills works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Mills has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Rubey looking to pass the guard. Rubey slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Rubey cracks Mills with a solid left hand. Rubey passes easily into side control. Nice work. Rubey tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rubey has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubey cracks Mills with a big right hand but Mills just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Mills tries to bench press Rubey off him but Rubey keeps the position. Mills is working hard here to advance position. Rubey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mills keeps working. Rubey is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mills is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Rubey scores with a couple of short elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Mills takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mills tries to buck Rubey off but Rubey is having none of it. Rubey working the body and head with strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rubey advances to full mount. Mills can't escape the position.

Rubey trying to control but Mills is having none of it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rubey raining down shots from the mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Rubey dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Mills fails to land the takedown. Mills misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Rubey tries to clinch there but Mills circles away.
A telegraphed right hand from Mills misses the target. Mills misses the shot to the body. Rubey throws a series of punches but Mills moves out of range. Rubey bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Mills's head. Rubey misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jab, jab by Mills - just one landing.
It looks like Chris Rubey has been cut. Mills shoots for a double leg takedown but Rubey sprawls well. He's pushed Mills's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Milton Mills. That's going to take a lot out of him. A combination from Rubey does no damage. Mills moves out of range of the strikes. Mills steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Rubey. Mills tries a low kick but Rubey avoids it. A slow jab from Rubey misses its intended target. Rubey catches Mills with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Mills takes one on the button. Mills tries to clinch but Rubey moves out of range. Mills dives in for a single leg takedown but Rubey sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Rubey misses with the head strike.

Rubey is trying to maintain a safe position but Mills gets an underhook and turns Rubey into the cage. Rubey has a couple of punches blocked by Mills.
Mills tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rubey smiles and moves away.
Rubey might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rubey misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rubey uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Rubey connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mills's hands. Mills misses with a leg kick and Rubey counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. A nice combination there by Rubey.

Rubey throws a right and a left that Mills avoids nicely.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mills takes a swing at Rubey's ribcage but misses. Chris Rubey seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rubey fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Rubey pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Rubey slips a jab from Mills. Rubey throws a quick inside leg kick. Mills misses the shot to the body. Rubey scores with a jab to the jaw. Rubey throws a looping overhand right but Mills ducks down to avoid it. Rubey swings for the body but Mills moves out of range.
Rubey stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Mills on the wrong end of a nice hook. Chris Rubey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Sloppy strikes from Rubey. Those never looked like landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rubey with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Rubey moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Mills takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. Rubey lands a head shot. Rubey lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Mills throws a leg kick letting Rubey counter with a right hand. Mills shoots for a takedown but Rubey saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Rubey scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Rubey with a nice cross. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rubey misses with a two punch combination.
Mills closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Rubey connects with a single shot there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chris Rubey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Chris Rubey's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

and Mills holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Rubey prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rubey has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Mills jumps guard but Rubey turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Mills blocks an elbow strike. Mills trying to stall but Rubey improves his position.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Mills wants to get back to striking at distance but Rubey won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rubey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rubey throws a combination that misses and Mills counters with a single leg into guard. Rubey didn't expect that. Mills slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Chris Rubey has got the better of the ground game so far. Rubey is not content to let Mills control the position. Mills throwing strikes but Rubey manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control! Mills knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rubey on the ground. Rubey is looking to take a break and control but Mills is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Rubey is putting a hurting on Mills here, landing some big shots from side control. Milton Mills has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rubey working the body and head with strikes. Rubey tries to move to mount but Mills blocks the move with his legs. Mills is looking for a sweep. Rubey in side control lands a decent elbow. Mills can't do much from the bottom here. A lull in the action here. Mills tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rubey is putting a hurting on Mills here, landing some big shots from side control. Mills is working to avoid the ground and pound but Rubey connects with a decent elbow. Rubey works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Mills taking a bit of punishment here - Rubey scoring with strikes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Mills regains half guard. Mills keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rubey is nestled in close to Mills, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Rubey has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mills tries to get to full guard but Rubey has control of the leg. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Mills wants to control but Rubey is keeping busy.
Rubey is pressing down on Mills's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mills is holding on for now.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Rubey in particular looking to stall. Rubey is nestled in close to Mills, controlling him well. And that's the end of the fight! Chris Rubey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Rubey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
