And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mees Metsast!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Chris Saunders and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Metsast stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Gracie swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Gracie throws a good cross that connects.
Metsast is looking to clinch but Gracie is avoiding it.
Metsast fails in his attempt to clinch.
Ronaldo Gracie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Gracie throws the left hand but Metsast avoids the punch easily.
We've been informed that Metsast has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Metsast takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Metsast throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.
Metsast shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Metsast looks to land a body kick but Gracie moved away.
Metsast tries to land a front kick but Gracie steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Metsast misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Gracie scores with a jab.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Metsast sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Metsast pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Gracie throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Metsast misses with a hook.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Metsast throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Gracie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Gracie throws a hook but Metsast blocks it.
Metsast ducks under a wild hook from Gracie.

Metsast tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Metsast throws a right hand that Gracie ducks under and follows up with a left that Gracie also avoids with ease.
Gracie has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Nice defenses there by Gracie.
Gracie lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Gracie moves out of range of the body kick from Metsast.
Nice shot lands for Gracie.

Gracie shoots in and bounces Metsast off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Gracie tries to free his leg and advance position but Metsast is retaining full guard.
Metsast wants to sweep but no luck.
Gracie pushing down on Metsast's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Metsast works his way to full guard. Good work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Gracie forces his way into half guard.
Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Metsast!

Gracie works his way to his opponent's back.

Gracie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Metsast has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Metsast is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Gracie off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
Metsast can't escape the position.
Metsast really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Metsast is holding on to Gracie 's glove but Gracie gets free and slips his arm under Metsast 's chin. This could be big trouble! Yes, Metsast is tapping furiously and this one is over!
