Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nicholas Weichel! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James MacDonald! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Paul Tew and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weichel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. MacDonald trying to control here.
Weichel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Weichel winds up and cracks MacDonald with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Weichel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Weichel trying to pass the guard but MacDonald defending well. Weichel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. MacDonald is looking to control Weichel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can MacDonald avoid being mounted?
That's one minute gone in the round. Weichel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. MacDonald is trying to control but can't.
MacDonald wants to get back to his feet. Weichel is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Weichel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. MacDonald has hold of Weichel's hands but Weichel slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Weichel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Weichel moves into full mount! MacDonald won't be happy about that! MacDonald really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Weichel. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Weichel is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Weichel extends the arm and MacDonald is forced to tap!
