Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lincoln Rice! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Francis Jenele! The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Edson Gomes and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rice fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jenele avoids it really well and circles away. Jenele looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Jenele tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rice sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jenele somewhat. Jenele showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Rice.
Rice closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Jenele's guard. Rice controls from within his opponent's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Lincoln Rice has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Rice rushes Jenele and presses him up against the cage. Jenele looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Rice breaks from the clinch.
Rice manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Jenele on his heels. He'll look to pass Jenele's guard now, I'm sure. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rice stays in close to Jenele's body and controls the position. Jenele lands an upkick as Rice stands over him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice gets to his feet - Jenele follows without any prompting. Jenele shoots in looking for a takedown. Rice tries to sprawl out of it but Jenele keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Rice manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Rice shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rice looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Rice pushes down on Jenele's leg and manages to get into half guard. Jenele avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Rice.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rice performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Rice throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Lincoln Rice has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Jenele shoots in but Rice avoids the takedown attempt easily. Lincoln Rice has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francis Jenele. Rice lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jenele circles away quickly and effectively. Rice tries to clinch up but Jenele circles away and keeps his distance. Rice ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Rice scores with a one two! Jenele had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rice darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Rice has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jenele dives in and grabs Rice's left leg, looking for a takedown. Rice pushes down on Jenele's head and hops out. Rice swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rice shoots in for a takedown but Jenele shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Rice looks to land a combination but Jenele avoids it well. Jenele gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rice to score an easy takedown into full guard. Jenele being controlled here, momentarily. Jenele is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lincoln Rice overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Lincoln Rice. Jenele fails to land the takedown.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Jenele looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rice controlling the position from side mount. Rice stands up and beckons Jenele to his feet. Rice has taken the fight to the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rice is trying to break the clinch but Jenele has him pressed against the cage. Rice pulls Jenele into guard.
Rice seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rice throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Rice is pulling down on Jenele's head to control his posture. Rice really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Lincoln Rice wasn't doing enough on the ground. Jenele stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jenele wants it to stay on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rice moves into range and clinches up with Jenele. Rice is trying to break the clinch but Jenele is controlling him. Jenele wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Rice pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rice drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rice controlling from side mount. Rice is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jenele has escaped the position, nice work there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jenele is looking for a sweep. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lincoln Rice dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Rice's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Rice duly obliges. Jenele has Rice up against the cage in a clinch.
Rice using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jenele has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Rice wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Rice prevents a takedown attempt there.
Rice is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jenele can do to turn this around? Rice breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Rice fails with a takedown attempt. Rice gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Jenele takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jenele tries to pull guard but Rice won't allow it.
Rice has clasped his hands together around Jenele's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Rice looks up at the clock and then as Jenele takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Rice smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Rice will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rice thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Rice controls the position from side control. Rice has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rice trying to control the action but Jenele is working from the bottom. The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Rice has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rice closes the distance and clinches up with Jenele, looking for a takedown. Rice pushes Jenele against the cage but Jenele circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rice gets a takedown into half guard. Rice perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Jenele is trying to control but can't.

We're going to have a standup here because Lincoln Rice wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Rice shoots in for a double leg but Jenele sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lincoln Rice. That's going to take a lot out of him. Jenele misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Rice. Rice dives in and grabs Jenele's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jenele pushes down on Rice's head and hops out. Jenele swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Rice decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jenele's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rice trying to control the position from guard on top but Jenele is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rice postures up and lands a big shot to Jenele's brow. Francis Jenele has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lincoln Rice is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Jenele looking for a guillotine here but Rice defends easily.
And that's the end of the fight! Lincoln Rice showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rice has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
