Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Carter Merritt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Willing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Carter Merritt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Willing!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Merritt fails with an attempt to clinch.
Merritt on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Merritt slips a jab from Willing.
Willing will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Willing drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Merritt can't do much from the bottom here.
Willing throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Merritt gets back to half guard.
Merritt blocking the ground and pound attempt from Willing.
Willing throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Merritt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Willing's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Willing's back!
Merritt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Willing trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Merritt is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Merritt throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Merritt is not going to allow Willing to sit and survive in this position.
Merritt controlling well, preventing Willing from escaping the position.
Willing controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
I really don't envy Willing right now.
Willing holding both Merritt 's hands and preventing any damage.
Merritt doesn't have the hooks in and Willing manages to turn into his guard.
Willing wants to control from the top but Merritt keeps moving.
Willing must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Willing is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Willing tries to free his leg and advance position but Merritt is retaining full guard.
Willing missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Merritt manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Willing manages to get himself to full guard.

Merritt drops back, looking for a kneebar! Willing looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Willing looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Willing!

Merritt takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
The strikes coming from Willing are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Merritt is rocked!
Willing lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Merritt down.
Oh Merritt is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Willing cracks Merritt with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Willing immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Merritt is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Willing!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack Willing!
Jack Willing spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
