Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jaco Abucay! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tomas Rance! The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abucay lands a nice looking body shot.
Rance manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Abucay on his heels. He'll look to pass Abucay's guard now, I'm sure. Rance wants to pass the guard but Abucay is keeping the position. Rance passes Abucay's left leg - he's now in half guard. Rance slips a nice elbow through Abucay's hands, connecting with Abucay's forehead. Abucay moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Abucay looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rance wants to pass the guard but Abucay is keeping the position. Abucay trying to keep a closed guard but Rance is proving a slippery customer.
Rance scoring with some ground and pound. Rance wants to pass the guard but Abucay is keeping the position. Rance is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Rance working some strikes from top position. Abucay will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abucay is looking for a triangle here but Rance uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Abucay tries to improve position but can't. Abucay stops Rance from passing to mount. Rance remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. Rance wants to lay and pray for a moment but Abucay keeps working. Rance really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Abucay. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Abucay looks to move to half guard but instead Rance has passed into mount! Damn! Rance landing strikes, looking to finish! Abucay is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rance connects with a bit shot that sees Abucay covering up! More strikes from Rance and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Rance is our winner by TKO!
