PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Drizzt Do Urden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Schoots (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Drizzt Do Urden!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nathan Schoots!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schoots looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Do Urden is fending him off so far but Schoots persists. Nope, Do Urden circles away and we're back to standing.
Schoots fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Schoots throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Do Urden's waist but Do Urden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schoots off to one side.
Drizzt Do Urden has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Schoots.

Schoots shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Schoots avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Do Urden is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Schoots stands up over Do Urden, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Do Urden fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Schoots looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Schoots is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Do Urden is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Do Urden paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Schoots shoots in but no luck this time.

Schoots throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Do Urden's waist but Do Urden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Schoots off to one side.

Do Urden comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Do Urden ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Schoots fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Do Urden avoids it really well and circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Do Urden, right into the meat.
Schoots takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Nice uppercut there from Do Urden.

Schoots goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Do Urden rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Schoots's guard! Nice work there by Do Urden!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Do Urden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Schoots doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Do Urden.
Drizzt Do Urden has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Do Urden is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Do Urden trying to control from half guard but Schoots is working away.
Schoots is trying to get back to full guard.
Do Urden passes to full mount!
Do Urden thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.

Do Urden looking to control but Schoots is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Do Urden avoids the attempt from Schoots to control.
Do Urden can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Schoots is looking to escape.
Do Urden throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Schoots is desperately trying to improve his position but Do Urden has a good base and remains in mount.

Do Urden wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Do Urden cracks Schoots with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Schoots wants to control but Do Urden is having none of it.
Do Urden throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Do Urden has control of Schoots's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Schoots regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Schoots is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Do Urden works his way to his opponent's back.
Do Urden misses with a punch to the head.
Schoots trying to control the hands but Do Urden won't let him.

And that's the end of the fight!
Drizzt Do Urden showed his dominance in that final round.
