Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Stewart Fulton! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Diamond! The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Mauricio Rocha and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diamond tries to clinch but fails miserably and Fulton moves into the clinch. Fulton can't get the takedown.
Fulton jumps into guard, dragging Diamond to the mat.
Diamond wants to get up but he can't break Fulton's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Diamond looking to sit in guard and control but Fulton gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Fulton with a flurry of punches that miss. Fulton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fulton seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fulton has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We're going to have a standup here because Stewart Fulton wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Fulton closes the distance and pushes Diamond back into the cage. Fulton lands a takedown into guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fulton controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Fulton postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Fulton lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fulton loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fulton is stalling in the full guard. Fulton throwing strikes but missing. Fulton stands up over Diamond, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Fulton is in close to Diamond's body, working some short punches and elbows. Fulton lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fulton postures up and lands a big shot to Diamond's brow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Fulton prevents Diamond from getting back to his feet. Fulton showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Fulton throwing strikes but missing. Fulton scoring with punches to the head and body. Fulton really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Fulton is stalling in the full guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stewart Fulton dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Diamond tries to clinch and Fulton counters by clinching up. Fulton jumps guard.
Fulton working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Diamond doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Diamond manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Diamond must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Fulton manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. Diamond breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. A telegraphed right hand from Diamond misses the target. Diamond misses the shot to the body. Fulton drives through with a takedown into guard. Diamond working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Fulton. Stewart Fulton overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Diamond throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fulton trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Diamond being controlled here, momentarily. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Stewart Fulton just wasn't active enough. Diamond tries to clinch but fails miserably and Fulton counters by moving into the clinch. Fulton jumps guard.
Fulton is pulling down on Diamond's head to control his posture. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stewart Fulton has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Fulton clinches. Fulton jumps guard but Diamond turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing. Diamond with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Fulton has Diamond pressed against the cage.
Diamond blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Diamond wants to break free but Fulton has control.
Diamond taking a breather. Fulton slowing the pace effectively. Fulton is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Diamond pulls him back up using the underhooks. Fulton drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stewart Fulton. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fulton misses with an elbow over the top.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Fulton tries to pull guard but Diamond forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Diamond looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Fulton pulls guard. The fighters are working up against the cage. Fulton manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage. Diamond is trying to stall.
Fulton tries to pull guard but Diamond forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Fulton keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Diamond's efforts to push away. Fulton takes a shot to the head. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Fulton looking for a takedown. Fulton just leaning against Diamond, taking a breather. Fulton has Diamond pressed against the cage, preventing Diamond from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Diamond tries to break free but Fulton pushes him back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Stewart Fulton dominated that second round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Diamond connects with a leg kick. Fulton looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Diamond looks to land a combination but Fulton avoids it well. Diamond tries to clinch but fails miserably and Fulton holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Fulton manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Fulton looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Fulton keeping moving, preventing Diamond from controlling successfully. Fulton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Diamond throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fulton managing to control the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Stewart Fulton wasn't doing enough on the ground. Fulton moves into range and clinches up with Diamond. Fulton takes an elbow to the forehead. Diamond tries to break free but Fulton pushes him back against the cage. Fulton manages to pull guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Fulton holds on and takes a little breather. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Diamond wants to pass the guard but Fulton is keeping the position. Fulton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Fulton escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diamond gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diamond trying to stand up but can't free himself from Fulton's guard. Fulton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Diamond's guard. Fulton lands a couple of elbows. Fulton postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Fulton postures up and lands a big shot to Diamond's brow. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Fulton looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Diamond preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Fulton throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Fulton controls from within his opponent's guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Fulton blocks a low kick nicely. Fulton blocks a head kick by Diamond.
Fulton closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Diamond quickly recovers to half guard. Fulton stalling.
And that's the end of the fight! Stewart Fulton showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Fulton, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
