Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marc Callahan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonh Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jonh Maynard will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Marc Callahan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jonh Maynard!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Valeri Chadov and Illya Tyunina.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Callahan.
Maynard throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Callahan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maynard sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Callahan somewhat.
Callahan closes the distance but Maynard moves to the side

and Maynard counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Callahan trying to control the position but instead, Maynard has worked for underhooks and has pushed Callahan into the cage.
The referee calls for Maynard to work.
Maynard has Callahan pressed against the cage, preventing Callahan from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Callahan is struggling to control the position.
Maynard is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Callahan gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Callahan is looking to control Maynard's arms but Maynard gets an underhook and turns him. Now Callahan has his back to the cage.
Callahan tries to land knees in the clinch but Maynard avoids the damage to the body.

Maynard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Maynard shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Callahan counters with a takedown into side control.

Callahan tries for a kimura but Maynard is defending well.
Maynard manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Maynard can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Callahan is looking to escape.

Callahan wants to control but Maynard is having none of it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Callahan can't escape the position.
Callahan is squirming around, avoiding Maynard's attempts to control the action.
Callahan is working to get back to half guard.

Maynard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Callahan is desperately trying to improve his position but Maynard has a good base and remains in mount.
Callahan is working hard here to advance position.
Callahan could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Callahan is breathing heavily.

Callahan is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Callahan is squirming around, avoiding Maynard's attempts to control the action.

Maynard is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Callahan to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Callahan shrugs it off.

Maynard is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Callahan is surviving well by controlling Maynard's body position as best he can.
Maynard wants to control the pace but Callahan is squirming around nicely.
Callahan is in a horrible position here. Maynard smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Callahan is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonh Maynard dominated that round.

That's time! Callahan's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Callahan closes the distance and clinches up with Maynard, looking for a takedown. Callahan pushes Maynard against the cage but Maynard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Maynard drives through and clinches with Callahan against the cage.
Callahan tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
With the fighters up against the cage, Callahan throws an elbow but misses.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Maynard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Maynard looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Callahan is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Callahan might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Callahan wants to sweep but no luck.
Maynard trying to control the position from guard on top but Callahan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Callahan wants to sweep here but Maynard controlling him for the moment.

Callahan striking off his back but it's not causing Maynard any problems.

Jonh Maynard has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Maynard clinches up with Callahan and pushes him back against the cage.

Maynard pulls Callahan into guard.
Maynard trying to strike off his back.
Maynard is striking from the bottom but Callahan uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.

Maynard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Callahan is working away from the top position though.
Maynard moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Maynard is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Callahan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Maynard looking for a guillotine here but Callahan defends easily.

Maynard is looking to cinch up a triangle. Callahan throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Maynard's body to avoid the submission. Maynard has instead reached around Callahan's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Maynard arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jonh Maynard!
