PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chief Bull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hyun Sudo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chief Bull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hyun Sudo!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sudo has closed the distance and engaged Bull in a clinch.
Sudo looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Sudo lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Hyun Sudo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sudo stuffs the takedown.

Sudo closes the distance and clinches.

Sudo manages to break the clinch.

Sudo has Bull up against the cage in a clinch.

Sudo breaks from the clinch.
Bull shoots in for a double leg but Sudo sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
No luck for Sudo with that takedown attempt.
Bull lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sudo circles away quickly and effectively.
Bull has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chief Bull. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bull tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sudo swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Bull throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Bull fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Sudo to the ground. Bull is now in Sudo's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Bull passes Sudo's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Sudo tries to get to full guard but Bull has control of the leg.
Sudo blocking the ground and pound attempt from Bull.

Bull seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sudo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bull gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Sudo misses with a straight left.
Bull shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sudo as he jumps to the side.
Bull tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Sudo manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Bull has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Sudo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Bull is trying to force a seperation but Sudo has the dominant position.
Bull tries for a takedown but Sudo manages to get underhooks.

Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Sudo gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Bull to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Sudo tries to strike from the bottom.
Bull tries to free his leg and advance position but Sudo is retaining full guard.
Sudo is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Sudo manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bull fails with an attempt to clinch.
Bull shoots in for a takedown but Sudo shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sudo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Good work by Sudo as he checks the leg kick.
Bull throws a head kick that misses.
Sudo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bull keeps the fight on the outside.
Bull misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Bull tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bull dives in for a single leg takedown but Sudo sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Bull tries to pull guard but Sudo won't allow it.

Sudo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bull throws a sloppy head kick and Sudo moves out of range easily.
Nice takedown defense from Sudo. No joy for Bull on that attempt.

and Sudo counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Sudo connects with a nasty looking knee right to Bull's face.


It looks like Chief Bull has been cut.

Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Bull shoots for a takedown but Sudo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sudo jabs Bull to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Bull tries to clinch but Sudo is having none of it.
Sudo shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Bull sprawls well. Bull wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Sudo gets slowly back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chief Bull will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Chief Bull's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Bull jumps guard and drags Sudo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Bull might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sudo wants to stand but Bull is controlling his posture from full guard.

Sudo avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bull lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sudo!

Sudo is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Bull wants to control the pace but Sudo is squirming around nicely.

Bull goes for an armbar but Sudo turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sudo.

Sudo wants to control from the top but Bull keeps moving.
Bull trying to keep a closed guard but Sudo is proving a slippery customer.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bull shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bull looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Sudo controls from within his opponent's guard.
Bull throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Sudo postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Sudo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bull swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Hyun Sudo will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The cut man is working on Chief Bull's cut.
That's time! Bull's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Sudo scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Sudo wants to control but Bull is keeping him busy.
Bull wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Bull is looking for a sweep.

Sudo stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bull closes this distance looking for a takedown but Sudo circles away.

Sudo pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bull misses with a two punch combination.
Bull throws a head kick that misses.

Sudo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sudo keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bull's efforts to push away.

Sudo breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bull fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sudo has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sudo lands a nice uppercut.
Sudo will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Bull up against the cage.

Bull tries to pull guard but Sudo forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Sudo pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bull doesn't manage to clinch there - Sudo circles away.
Sudo keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Bull throws a head kick that misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bull fails to land the takedown.

Sudo gets a double leg takedown into Bull's guard.
Bull trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Sudo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bull is keeping the position for now.

Bull escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sudo gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bull is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sudo engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Let's hope that Sudo has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Sudo throws a big elbow that misses.
Bull wants to sweep but no luck.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Bull trying to control the position.
Sudo stands up over Bull, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hyun Sudo comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Sudo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
