Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Aiden Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Iain James!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Silva can't break the clinch.
James lands a knee to the head.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that James has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Silva pulls James into guard.
Silva trying to keep a closed guard but James is proving a slippery customer.

James drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and James jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Silva has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. James is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Silva.

Silva makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
James blocks a leg kick.

James lands with a kick to the ribs.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but James sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat.
Silva is breathing heavily.

James lands a nice looking kick to the body. Silva takes a step back to recover.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva swats away the attempt to clinch by James.
An inside leg kick lands from James.
Silva tries to bum rush James with a series of wild strikes but James uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
James tries to close the distance and clinch but Silva swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
James clobbers Silva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Silva takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
James moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off.
James wants to clinch.

James lands a knee to the body.

Silva takes an elbow to the forehead.
Silva looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
James tries to pull guard but Silva won't allow it.
A body shot lands from James.

James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

James gets in close and instigates a clinch.

James has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Silva uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

James is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Silva frees his head nicely. Oh but James has switched to an armbar! Silva is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
