PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keith Martin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blue Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Keith Martin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 12 - 0, fighting out of London, Blue Belt!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Colin Fotheringham and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Belt shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Martin as he avoids it easily.
Belt fails with a takedown attempt.
Martin catches Belt with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Martin throws out a loose jab but Belt uses good head movement to avoid it.

Keith Martin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Blue Belt.
Martin lands a glancing blow to the side of Belt's head.
Belt walks into a left hand.
Belt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Martin swivels and escapes.
Martin throws a shot to the body.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Martin scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Belt doesn't seem bothered though.

Belt shoots in for a takedown but Martin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Martin throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Belt on the side of the head.
Belt darts in looking for a takedown but Martin gets double underhooks and turns Belt into the cage.
Martin lands a hook to the side of the head.
Martin has had enough of the clinch but Belt keeps him there for the moment.

Martin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Martin throws an overhand right that lands on Belt's shoulder, as Belt tries to avoid the shot.

Belt drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Martin tries to bench press Belt off him but Belt keeps the position.
Martin sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Belt is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Belt prevents Martin from improving his position.
Martin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Martin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Belt is working away from the top position though.
Martin's coaches at Dark Horse MMA Academy have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.
Martin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Belt is looking to advance position but Martin won't allow it.

Belt throwing strikes but missing.
Martin pulls Belt in close to his closed guard and prevents Belt from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Belt tries to free his leg and advance position but Martin is retaining full guard.

Martin trying to keep a closed guard but Belt is proving a slippery customer.
Martin is looking to stand up but Belt isn't so interested in that idea.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Martin is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Keith Martin wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Belt shoots for a takedown but Martin saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Belt shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Martin but Martin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Belt tries to clinch there but Martin circles away.
Martin is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Belt dives in for a single leg takedown but Martin sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Belt has a couple of punches blocked by Martin.

Belt has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Martin finds it's way round the side to connect with Belt's head.
Belt tries to clinch up but Martin circles away and keeps his distance.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Belt shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Martin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Belt looks winded!
Belt throws a head kick that misses.
Nice defenses there by Belt.
Martin connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Martin throws the left hand but Belt avoids the punch easily.

Martin takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Blue Belt is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Belt tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Martin swivels and escapes.

Belt takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Martin drops Belt with a huge uppercut! Belt drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Martin is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

A very excited looking Keith Martin made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
