PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Buster Knott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne Cambell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Knott comes to the cage accompanied by Kanye West vs. The xx - Touch The Sky (Carlos Serrano Mix) . I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Buster Knott!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wayne Cambell!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knott tries to bum rush Cambell with a series of wild strikes but Cambell uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Horrible takedown by Cambell or perhaps it was just good defense by Knott which made him look bad.

Knott changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cambell looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Knott tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Knott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Knott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Knott trying to control the action but Cambell is working from the bottom.
Cambell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Knott wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knott grinds an elbow into Cambell's temple.
Cambell looks to move to half guard but instead Knott has passed into mount! Damn!

Cambell really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Knott. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cambell bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Cambell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Knott swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Cambell is fighting to break Knott's control of his arms but Knott is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Cambell throws a big elbow that misses.
Knott lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Cambell!
Knott trying to control but Cambell is having none of it.
Knott lands a big shot there that rocks Cambell but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cambell is squirming around, avoiding Knott's attempts to control the action.

Knott wants to stand but Cambell is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Cambell is looking to get to half guard.
Cambell manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Knott takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Knott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Cambell keeps working.
Knott takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Knott is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Cambell is just riding it out for now. Knott eventually gives up the hold.
Cambell is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Knott gets to his feet - Cambell follows without any prompting.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Knott defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Cambell.

Knott shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cambell can do anything to dispel that myth.
Knott works his foot free and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cambell shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Knott pinned against the cage. Knott gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cambell dives in and scores a takedown into Knott's guard.

Knott has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cambell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Cambell looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Cambell throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Knott works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Knott looking for a sweep. Not yet Knott, not yet.
Cambell wants to control from the top but Knott keeps moving.
Cambell must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Cambell is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Knott misses with a low kick.

Cambell is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

and Knott counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Knott.
We've been hearing good reports from Knott's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Knott throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cambell tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Knott is in Cambell's guard.

That's time! Knott's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Cambell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Knott circles away.
Knott throws a low kick, looking for Cambell's leg but Cambell calmly moves out of range.

Knott moves into range and clinches up with Cambell.

Cambell has picked Knott up - he's going for a ride! Cambell dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Knott has momentary wrist control but Cambell slips an elbow through the middle.

Cambell can't keep his opponent in guard - Knott advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Knott is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Cambell is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Cambell tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Knott's elbow.
Knott lands a hook to the side of the head.
Knott prevents a takedown attempt there.
Buster Knott has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne Cambell.

Cambell tightens his grip and picks Knott up, before dumping him to the ground. Knott manages to land in guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Knott is on top in guard.

Buster Knott is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Cambell working for a triangle but Knott defends it easily.

Cambell working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Knott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Knott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

I would just about give that final round to Wayne Cambell.
Well Knott has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
