PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Django Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ansgar Kurucz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brown kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is System Of A Down - Chop Suey! . Kurucz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Marek Ztraceny - Sex s Ex. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Django Brown!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ansgar Kurucz!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Robert Douchet and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurucz goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
An inside leg kick from Kurucz misses.

Kurucz gets a clinch.
Kurucz looks to throw an elbow but misses.
Kurucz pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Kurucz misses with a punch on the inside.
Kurucz unloads a knee to the mid-section. Brown lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.

Kurucz swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Kurucz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kurucz throws a head kick that Brown semi-blocks.
Kurucz gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Brown.
Ansgar Kurucz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Kurucz darts in and clinches Brown up against the cage.

Brown pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Brown fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Kurucz is out of range.
Kurucz cracks Brown with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

and Brown counters with a shoot takedown. Kurucz fights it but they end up in guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Brown advances position into side control!

Brown is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kurucz is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Brown advances nicely into full mount.
Brown sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kurucz wants to get back to his feet.
Brown misses with punches from the back.
Brown has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Brown is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Kurucz is defending well though. Brown let's go of the attempt for now.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Kurucz avoids the strikes from Brown.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brown lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Brown slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Django Brown dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Brown is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Kurucz will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Kurucz is trying to get back to his feet.
Brown tries to move to mount but Kurucz blocks the move with his legs.
Kurucz takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Brown is looking to take a break and control but Kurucz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

We've been hearing good reports from Brown's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Django Brown overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brown has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Kurucz is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Brown yanks on the arm and Kurucz is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Brown.

A relieved looking Django Brown thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
