Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ken Hordeen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Grind (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnny Grind is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Hordeen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Johnny Grind! The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Santiago Holmes and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hordeen clinches with his opponent.
Grind tries to pull guard but Hordeen won't allow it.
Hordeen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Grind uses from the top position. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Grind won't allow Hordeen to get back to his feet. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hordeen is on top in guard.
Hordeen advances position into side control! Grind is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hordeen asserts his dominance and retains side control. Hordeen is looking to take a break and control but Grind is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Grind tries to buck Hordeen off but Hordeen is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grind is not content to let Hordeen control the position. Grind really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hordeen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Grind is trying to improve his position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Grind tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hordeen trying to control the position but Grind is working away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grind tries to buck Hordeen off but Hordeen is having none of it.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ken Hordeen wasn't doing enough on the ground. Hordeen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Grind's waist but Grind gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hordeen off to one side. Grind stuffs the takedown attempt from Hordeen. Hordeen gets slowly back to his feet. Grind shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hordeen throws a combination. Grind tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Grind instigates a clinch. Hordeen drops down looking for an ankle pick but Grind pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Hordeen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grind looks for the body kick but Hordeen saw that one coming.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hordeen tries for a takedown but Grind sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Grind closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Hordeen quickly recovers to half guard. Hordeen is breathing heavily. Hordeen is trying to stand up here but Grind is controlling him well. Grind controlling the pace. Grind trying to control the action but Hordeen is working from the bottom. Hordeen tries to roll over but Grind keeps him under control. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Hordeen blocking the ground and pound attempt from Grind. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grind postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hordeen to stand up. Hordeen misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Grind shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hordeen napping and manages to drive through into side control! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grind stands up and beckons Hordeen to his feet. Grind misses with a head kick.
Grind scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Grind is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Grind looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Johnny Grind dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Grind gets a takedown into half guard. Grind missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Hordeen is trying to control but can't.
Grind controlling the action here. Grind is looking for a kimura but Hordeen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Grind to get the leverage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Grind seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grind trying to control from half guard but Hordeen is working away. Grind is breathing heavily. Hordeen tries to roll over but Grind keeps him under control. The fighters are battling for position here. Hordeen manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Hordeen is controlling Grind's posture. Hordeen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Johnny Grind has got the better of the ground game so far.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Grind tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hordeen swivels and escapes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grind closes the distance looking to clinch and Hordeen makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Grind really felt that one! A slapping leg kick lands for Hordeen.
Grind fails with the takedown. Grind stuffs the takedown attempt from Hordeen. Hordeen gets slowly back to his feet. Grind tries to clinch but fails miserably and Hordeen counters with a body kick that stops Grind in his tracks momentarily. Hordeen rushes Grind and presses him up against the cage. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Grind as Hordeen tries to tie him up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Grind is trying to break the clinch but Hordeen has him pressed against the cage. Hordeen tries to stall but Grind uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Hordeen breaks the clinch.
Grind stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Grind wants it to stay on the feet. Horrible takedown by Hordeen or perhaps it was just good defense by Grind which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ken Hordeen. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grind looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Grind got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hordeen has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grind has managed to get both his arms back between Hordeen's legs - danger averted. Grind is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Grind tries to free his leg and advance position but Hordeen is retaining full guard. Grind slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Johnny Grind. A momentary lapse in concentration from Hordeen enables Grind to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Hordeen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Hordeen keeping moving, preventing Grind from controlling successfully. Grind wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Hordeen's closed guard. He's half up but Hordeen has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Hordeen pivots and extends the arm, Grind falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Hordeen! Well done that man!
