Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Sheldon Sykes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Super Syndrome!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Syndrome tries a head kick but it misses.

Super Syndrome seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sykes decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Sykes closes the distance and clinches up with Syndrome, looking for a takedown. Sykes pushes Syndrome against the cage but Syndrome circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Syndrome feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sykess jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Syndrome wants to get back to his feet but Sykes is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Syndrome manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Sykes manages to get himself to full guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Syndrome got a little sloppy there for a moment and Sykes has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Syndrome has managed to get both his arms back between Sykes's legs - danger averted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Super Syndrome has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Sykes is pressed up against the cage. Syndrome has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sykes down to the mat. Sykes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sykes scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Syndrome to see if he's OK.
Sykes cracks Syndrome with a big right hand but Syndrome just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Sykes shoots in for a double leg but Syndrome sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Syndrome is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
