Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Koni Maximus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sasha Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maximus comes to the cage accompanied by Maui Boy. Sasha Grey will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Koni Maximus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sasha Grey!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Maximus gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Grey is trying to get back to half guard.

Maximus tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Maximus has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Grey regains half guard there - taking advantage of Maximus's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
We've been hearing good reports from Maximus's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Grey wants to get back to his feet.

Maximus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Maximus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Maximus is looking to take a break and control but Grey is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Maximus is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Grey has managed to free his arm - good work.

Maximus looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Maximus is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Grey reverses the position - he's now on top in Maximus's guard.

Maximus is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Grey tries to free his leg and advance position but Maximus is retaining full guard.
Grey postures up and lands a big shot to Maximus's brow.

Maximus has his foot on Grey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grey works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Grey is looking to take a break and control but Maximus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Maximus can't do much from the bottom here.

Maximus is looking to reverse the position.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Grey working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Grey works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Grey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maximus keeps working.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Maximus sneaks back into half guard.
Maximus has hold of Grey's hands but Grey slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Sasha Grey will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Grey closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Maximus to the mat! Maximus manages to get full guard.
Grey really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maximus. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Grey got a little sloppy there for a moment and Maximus has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Grey has managed to get both his arms back between Maximus's legs - danger averted.

Maximus is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Grey avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Grey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Grey lands a couple of decent looking shots.

Koni Maximus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Maximus has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Grey should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Maximus has tightened it up now! Grey should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
