Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shawn Jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Spat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Hustlin. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shawn Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 31 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jack Spat!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Spat.

Spat shoots in and bounces Jackson off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Spat is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Jackson wants to stand and escape but Spat is having none of it.

Spat drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Jackson manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Spat has Jackson in his guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Jackson's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Spat moves in looking to clinch but Jackson pushes him off.
Spat leaves Jackson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Spat enables Jackson to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Spat manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jack Spat.
Jackson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Spat throws a quick inside leg kick.
Spat shoots in looking for a takedown but Jackson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Spat's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Spat is looking for a sweep. Jackson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Spat postures up in Jackson's guard and throws a big left but Jackson blocks it.
Spat in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Spat accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Spat wants to control from the top but Jackson keeps moving.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Spat is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

You can see the frustration on Spat's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Jackson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Jackson creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Spat sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Jackson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Spat is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jackson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Jackson is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Spat will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Jackson shoots in for a takedown but Spat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Jackson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Jackson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Spat's waist but Spat gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jackson off to one side.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Spat is still in real trouble! Can Jackson finish him?
