Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ada Reyes! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ugor Makinwa! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reyes throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Makinwa rushes Reyes and presses him up against the cage. Makinwa fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Reyes lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Makinwa takes a shot to the head. Reyes digs a right hand underneath Makinwa's ribcage. Makinwa let out a lung full of air as it connected. Both guys are working to get underhooks. Reyes managing to block the knees to the body from Makinwa.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Reyes lands with a right to the head. Makinwa lands a hook to the side of the head. A short right from Reyes. Reyes throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Makinwas head. Makinwa can't break the clinch.

Makinwa looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Makinwa can't find room to land a body shot as Reyes controls the action.
Makinwa lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Makinwa tries a body shot but Reyes blocks it.
Reyes works on Makinwa's body with a couple of short punches. Makinwa misses with a hook to the ribs.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Still in the clinch, Reyes scores with a nice short uppercut. Reyes is leaning against Makinwa and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Reyes unloads a knee to the mid-section. Reyes lands a hook to the side of the head. A nice left hand lands by Reyes.
Reyes pushes Makinwa back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Still in the clinch, Reyes scores with a nice short uppercut.
Makinwa is rocked! Reyes digs a right hand into Makinwa's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Makinwa's gas tank. Makinwa is still on wobbly legs! Can Reyes finish him? I was talking to Reyes's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Reyes using the Thai clinch to land knees to the body.
Makinwa seems to have recovered his senses. Reyes takes control of his opponent's neck and spins him into the cage. Makinwa is off balance and as he stumbles, Reyes throws a jumping knee that lands flush on Makinwa's chin, knocking him out cold! Oh my word - what a knockout! Definitely one for his highlight reel! If he ever decides to rob a bank and run off to Morocco, that moment is defintely worthy of a tacky mural!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Ada Reyes! Ada Reyes retains his light heavyweight title!
