Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paul Thompson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sonny Bill Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sonny Bill Williams will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Paul Thompson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Sonny Bill Williams! The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, David Hoff and Peter Branson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Williams closes the distance looking to clinch and Thompson counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thompson. Williams looking to throw knees to the head but Thompson is blocking nicely.

Williams lands a nice knee to the body. Williams tries to land a knee to the head but Thompson blocks with his arms.

Thompson wants the takedown. Williams is fighting it off but Thompson persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Williams's guard against the cage. Thompson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Thompson sitting in guard, not really doing much. Thompson tries to free his leg and advance position but Williams is retaining full guard. Thompson throwing strikes from guard but Williams blocks nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Williams wants to get back to his feet but Thompson is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Thompson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Thompson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Thompson stays in close to Williams's body and controls the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Thompson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul Thompson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Thompson swats away the attempt to clinch by Williams. Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
A good leg kick by Williams. Nice sprawl there from Williams as Thompson shoots in. Sonny Bill Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Williams is looking to clinch but Thompson is avoiding it.

Good standup being displayed there by Thompson as he connects with a hook. Thompson seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Williams fails to land with a series of punches.
Thompson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Williams makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Thompson really felt that one! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Thompson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson wants to control but Williams is keeping him busy. Williams wants to improve his position but Thompson is controlling well.
Williams is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Williams has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Clean and Green. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. Thompson not landing any meaningful shots this time. Williams tries to roll over but Thompson keeps him under control. That's four minutes gone in the round. Thompson is pressing down on Williams's thigh, looking to free his foot. Williams is holding on for now. Williams tries to kick Thompson off but Thompson keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Thompson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Williams wants to control but Thompson passes into side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Paul Thompson will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Thompson moves into the clinch. Williams tries a knee to the head but Thompson blocks it.

Thompson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Thompson postures up.
Thompson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Thompson chips away with some ground and pound. Thompson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Williams is trying to hold Thompson in close to prevent damage but Thompson has managed to pass into half guard.
Thompson tries to stand but can't do so whilst Williams controls his leg. Thompson throwing shots but Williams is blocking nicely. Williams trying to hold on to Thompson's head to control him but Thompson postures up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Thompson lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Williams trying to control from the bottom.
Thompson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Thompson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Williams trying to get back to full guard but Thompson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Thompson breaks from Williams's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Thompson controlling the pace for now. Thompson putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Paul Thompson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Thompson is working for a guillotine from mount but Williams frees his head quite easily.

Thompson has hold of Williams's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Williams manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Williams wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back. Williams is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Thompson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Thompson is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Williams with him. Williams is trying to defend but Thompson has an arm under the chin now! Williams grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Paul Thompson! In defeat, Sonny Bill Williams stepped up to the mic, saying 'shit man that was a tough fight .. its not like boxing here ill tell ya .. at least my first loss is gone its time to move on and up '.
