Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Numazawa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 30 - 17 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Tyrone Bate!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Numazawa.
Bate drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Bate counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Bate lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Horrible takedown by Numazawa or perhaps it was just good defense by Bate which made him look bad.

Bate has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Numazawa tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Bate defends well and Numazawa ends up having to push Bate into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bate cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Bate lands a couple of good shots and Numazawa has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Bate is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Numazawa is defending well though. Bate let's go of the attempt for now.
Bate has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Bate is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Bate has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Numazawa has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Bate is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Bate gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Bate gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Bate apologises and we restart here on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bate manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Numazawa on his heels. He'll look to pass Numazawa's guard now, I'm sure.

Tyrone Bate comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bate has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
