Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Konsta Pylkkanen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
23 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lewis McMurray! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Stewart Dunkirk and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McMurray looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. McMurray moves out of range of the strikes. McMurray closes the distance and pushes Pylkkanen back into the cage. McMurray gets a trip takedown into half guard. McMurray lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Pylkkanen keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Pylkkanen blocking the ground and pound attempt from McMurray. McMurray has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Pylkkanen is refusing to be controlled, as McMurray sits in half guard. McMurray thows a huge punch but Pylkkanen dodges it nicely.
McMurray is looking for a kimura but Pylkkanen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McMurray to get the leverage. Pylkkanen is trying to get back to full guard. McMurray trying to control the action but Pylkkanen is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. McMurray is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pylkkanen sees it coming and defends easily. McMurray looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pylkkanen with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. McMurray blocks the strikes from Pylkkanen.
McMurray wants to pass to mount but Pylkkanen is defending the position. McMurray lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. McMurray working the head and body with strikes. McMurray is keen to just control but Pylkkanen is a slippery customer. McMurray throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Pylkkanen is refusing to be controlled, as McMurray sits in half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. McMurray performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McMurray takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. McMurray prevents Pylkkanen from improving his position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. McMurray landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Pylkkanen looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McMurray is keen to just control but Pylkkanen is a slippery customer. Pylkkanen blocking the ground and pound attempt from McMurray.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McMurray performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Pylkkanen looking for submissions off his back. Pylkkanen is trying to maintain the position but McMurray is very close to passing his half guard. McMurray looking for a submission but Pylkkanen manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
McMurray content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pylkkanen looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McMurray trying to control but Pylkkanen is working from the bottom. McMurray stands up over Pylkkanen, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. McMurray in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Pylkkanen has his foot on McMurray's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McMurray works his way back into a safe position though. McMurray is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! McMurray throws an elbow that misses. Pylkkanen uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McMurray's guard. Nice move by Pylkkanen! McMurray controlling the position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pylkkanen looking to sit in guard and control but McMurray gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. McMurray slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lewis McMurray dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Pylkkanen slips a jab from McMurray. Pylkkanen looks to throw a body kick and McMurray counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Pylkkanen is looking to control McMurray's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Pylkkanen avoid being mounted? McMurray working over Pylkkanen with some ground and pound. Pylkkanen looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Pylkkanen trying to control from the bottom.
McMurray trying to control from half guard but Pylkkanen is working away. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. McMurray drops an elbow to the side of Pylkkanen's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. McMurray is working for a kimura but Pylkkanen is defending it quite comfortably.
McMurray throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. McMurray is trying to control the action in half guard but Pylkkanen is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. McMurray lands strikes from half guard. Nice strikes from McMurray there. McMurray thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. McMurray is nestled in close to Pylkkanen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. McMurray working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McMurray lands with a punch from half guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pylkkanen trying to control here.
McMurray moves into full mount! Pylkkanen won't be happy about that! McMurray lands a heavy elbow. Pylkkanen in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. McMurray working Pylkkanen over with strikes here. McMurray has been the more effective fighter overall so far. McMurray is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pylkkanen can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Pylkkanen is rocked! Pylkkanen takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! McMurray's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
