PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roger Rabbit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shah Rokhan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rabbit's entrance music is My Opponent is a Infidel. A fine choice. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roger Rabbit!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Shah Rokhan!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rokhan scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Rokhan tries to clinch but Rabbit is having none of it.

Rokhan scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rabbit is looking for a sweep.
Rokhan tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rabbit is trying to buck Rokhan off.
Rabbit can't do much from the bottom here.
Rabbit tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rokhan wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Rabbit trying his best to control but Rokhan has mounted him.

Rokhan jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Rabbit manages to avoid the submission attempt.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rabbit throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Rokhan moves into range and clinches up with Rabbit.
Rabbit is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rabbit tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Rokhan smiles and moves away.
Shah Rokhan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Rabbit closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Rokhan to the mat! Rokhan manages to get full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rabbit throwing strikes from guard but Rokhan blocks nicely.
Rokhan is trying to control the position but Rabbit postures up.
Rabbit trying to control the position from guard on top but Rokhan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rabbit stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rokhan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Rabbit is looking to advance position but Rokhan has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rabbit wants to control but Rokhan is having none of it.
Rabbit can't escape the position.
Rabbit is working hard here to advance position.
Rokhan avoids the attempt from Rabbit to control.

Rabbit holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Rokhan tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Rabbit is looking to get to half guard.
Rabbit throwing hammer fists to the chest of Rokhan. What's that going to do exactly?
Rabbit working to try and regain half guard.
Rabbit is squirming around, avoiding Rokhan's attempts to control the action.
Rabbit can't escape the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shah Rokhan dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Rokhan doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Rabbit counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Rokhan wants to control the position but Rabbit says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Rabbit throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Rabbit stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Rokhan to get to his feet.

Nice takedown defense from Rokhan. No joy for Rabbit on that attempt.

Rabbit shoots in for a takedown but Rokhan shows good takedown defense.

and Rabbit counters with a single leg into guard. Rokhan didn't expect that.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rabbit sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Rokhan's guard.
Rabbit is keen to just control but Rokhan is a slippery customer.
Rokhan is looking for a sweep. Rabbit is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rabbit is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Rokhan flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.
Rabbit trying to control but Rokhan is having none of it.

Roger Rabbit overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Rokhan is wriggling around trying to escape.

Rokhan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Rabbit wants to control the pace but Rokhan is squirming around nicely.
Rabbit with shots to the head and body - Rokhan looks very uncomfortable down there.

Rabbit swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Rokhan is now in Rabbit's guard. A big mistake from Rabbit there, giving up the dominant position!
Rabbit wants to control the position but Rokhan says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Rokhan wants to control but Rabbit is keeping him busy.
Rokhan wants to get back to his feet.

Rabbit manages to get to full guard.
Rokhan wanted to stand there but Rabbit had control of the position.
Rabbit trying to keep a closed guard but Rokhan is proving a slippery customer.
Rabbit manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rokhan manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Rabbit doesn't succeed with the takedown

Rabbit thows a huge punch but Rokhan dodges it nicely.

Rabbit seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rokhan does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rabbit is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Rokhan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rabbit is working away from the top position though.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Rabbit throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Rokhan counters by moving into the clinch.
Good body shot from Rokhan.
Rokhan throws an elbow but it misses.
Rokhan lands a nice uppercut.

Rokhan jumps guard and drags Rabbit to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Rokhan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rabbit accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Rabbit tries to free his leg and advance position but Rokhan is retaining full guard.

Rokhan is working an open guard so Rabbit takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Rokhan tries to close the distance and clinch but Rabbit swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Rokhan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rabbit's guard.

The fighters are battling for position here. Rabbit manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Rokhan moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Rokhan gets caught flat footed, as Rabbit shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rokhan wants to stand but Rabbit is controlling the position.
Rokhan looking for a sweep. Not yet Rokhan, not yet.
Rabbit pushes down on Rokhan's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rabbit uses his free foot to push down on Rokhan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rokhan.
Rabbit lands with some strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Shah Rokhan.
I think Rokhan has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
