PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Graig Mcneil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dom Nik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Graig Mcneil!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dom Nik!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Saam Ante and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Mcneil shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Mcneil showed some decent athleticism there.

Nik looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nik wants to improve his position but Mcneil is controlling well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mcneil tries to stand and escape but Nik is controlling the position.

Mcneil stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Mcneil could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mcneil shoots in but no luck this time.

Nik clinches up with Mcneil and pushes him back against the cage.

Mcneil escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Nik has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Mcneil is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Nik gets a double leg takedown into Mcneil's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mcneil keeping moving, preventing Nik from controlling successfully.

Nik is still trying to improve position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Graig Mcneil wasn't doing enough on the ground.
A head kick misses from Mcneil.
Mcneil cracks a nice hook into Nik's ribs.

Nik throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcneil was covering up waiting for the punch and Nik finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mcneil is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Nik wants to control from the top but Mcneil keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dom Nik will probably get the nod.
That's time! Mcneil's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Nik feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Nik has gone for a leg lock! Mcneil slips out almost immediately though and dives into Nik's guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Nik has a closed guard, preventing Mcneil from standing up.

Nik has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Mcneil should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Nik has tightened it up now! Mcneil should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Dom Nik!
