Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Hess! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Francisco Carreon! The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carreon shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hess pinned against the cage. Hess gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hess leaves Carreon with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Carreon tries to keep at a distance but Hess has taken the fight into the clinch. Carreon pulls Hess into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Carreon tries to strike from the bottom.
Carreon lands a decent shot there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Carreon will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Carreon throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Carreon throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Carreon keeping moving, preventing Hess from controlling successfully. Carreon throws a couple of heel strikes.
Hess wants to control from the top but Carreon keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carreon tries to strike from the bottom.
Carreon thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Carreon trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Carreon can do anything to dispel that myth. Carreon manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Carreon in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hess wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Carreon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Carreon looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Hess covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
