Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Sam Gray (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jesse Mackenzie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jesse Mackenzie!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, John Roberts and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mackenzie will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Gray on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

and Mackenzie counters with a single leg into guard. Gray didn't expect that.

Mackenzie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gray swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mackenzie is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Mackenzie postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Gray looks a forlorn figure.

Gray knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mackenzie on the ground.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mackenzie throws and elbow that misses. Gray uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Mackenzie's guard. Nice move by Gray!

Mackenzie is striking from the bottom but Gray uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Gray tries to close the distance and clinch but Mackenzie swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Horrible takedown by Mackenzie or perhaps it was just good defense by Gray which made him look bad.

Jesse Mackenzie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
