Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jeff Hecker (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Janus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hecker comes to the cage accompanied by The Ultimate Warrior. Jeff Hecker has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeff Hecker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hugh Janus!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janus fails with an attempt to clinch.

Hecker feints and as Janus raises his hands in defense, Hecker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Hecker wants to control from the top but Janus keeps moving.
Hecker stops Janus from standing up.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Janus can do anything to dispel that myth.
Hecker connects with a couple of short punches.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hecker is really struggling to control Janus but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Hecker drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Janus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hecker has Janus in his guard.

Hecker escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Janus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Hecker is looking to control Janus's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Hecker avoid being mounted?

Hecker has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Janus is working away from the top position though.

Janus tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Hecker really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

and Hecker counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Hecker closes this distance looking for a takedown but Janus circles away.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hecker looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Janus is fending him off so far but Hecker persists. Nope, Janus circles away and we're back to standing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Janus looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jeff Hecker overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hecker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Janus looks like he's trying to stand up.
Janus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hecker. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hecker thows a huge punch but Janus dodges it nicely.
Hecker has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Janus is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Hecker swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Janus is now in Hecker's guard. A big mistake from Hecker there, giving up the dominant position!
Janus wanted to stand there but Hecker had control of the position.

Hecker throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Janus escapes and throws Hecker's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Hecker is looking to regain half guard here but Janus keeps moving and retains side control.

Janus has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Hecker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Janus sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hecker somewhat.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Hecker shoots for a double leg takedown but Janus sprawls well. He's pushed Hecker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Janus stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Janus wants it to stay on the feet.
Hecker tries for a takedown but Janus sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

It looks like Jeff Hecker has been cut.
Hecker is looking for a takedown.
Janus utilising his Muay Thai to score with a knee to the body.
Janus jerks Hecker's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Hecker drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Janus goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Janus because Hecker was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Knee). Hugh Janus!
In his post fight interview, Hugh Janus started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
Jeff Hecker was interviewed post fight and said 'I......I don't know.....It didn't go my way. I'm gonna hit the gym, and come back better than ever.'.
