Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Fayth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bartholomew Roach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fayth comes to the ring accompanied by Awry Decade - Aisle of Denial. Roach has chosen The Simpsons Theme Song as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ray Fayth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bartholomew Roach!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Jeff Smith and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roach tries to clinch up but Fayth circles away and keeps his distance.
Roach tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Roach looks to land a body kick but Fayth moved away.
Roach cracks Fayth with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

Roach forces Fayth back against the ropes and clinches.
A nice left hand lands by Roach.
I was talking to Fayth's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Roach lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Fayth has picked Roach up - he's going for a ride! Fayth dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Roach tries to roll over but Fayth keeps him under control.
Still in half guard, Fayth seems content to control.
Fayth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Roach keeps working.
Fayth has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Roach tries to hold on but Fayth pushes him away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fayth is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Roach holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Fayth tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Roach is in all sorts of trouble here.
Roach felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Roach tries to lock up and control but Fayth gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fayth trying to control but Roach is having none of it.
Fayth throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Fayth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Roach tries to reverse the position but Fayth maintains control.
Fayth trying to control but Roach is having none of it.

Fayth looking to secure an arm triangle but Roach defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Fayth breaks from Roach's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Fayth controlling the pace for now.
Roach bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roach passes Fayth's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Fayth is looking for a sweep. Roach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Fayth is working hard here to advance position.
Roach trying to mount his opponent but Fayth defends it.
Fayth works his way to full guard. Good work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fayth looking to hit a scissor sweep but Roach is one step ahead there.
Roach must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Roach would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Fayth working for a triangle but Roach defends it easily.

Fayth is trying to keep Roach in close.
Fayth wants to improve his position but instead Roach has moved into half guard.

Roach prevents Fayth from improving his position.
Roach trying to pass the guard but Fayth defending well.
Fayth is looking for a sweep. Roach is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Roach wants to control from the top but Fayth keeps moving.
Fayth tries to land a sweep but no joy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fayth is on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ray Fayth dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Roach throws a shot to the body.
Roach throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Roach tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Fayth is able to avoid easily.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Fayth here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Roach cracks the inside of Fayth's front leg.
Roach takes a swing at Fayth's ribcage but misses.
Roach misses with a wild body shot.
Roach thows a leg kick but Fayth checks it

and Fayth counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roach won't be happy with that.

Roach tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Fayth trying to control the action but Roach is working from the bottom.
Ray Fayth overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fayth blocks the strikes from Roach.
Fayth is trying to ground and pound but Roach uses the momentary lack of control by Fayth to regain half guard.
Roach trying to control here.
Fayth not doing much here.
Fayth looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Roach looks like he's trying to stand up.
Fayth prevents Roach from improving his position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roach has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fayth is working away from the top position though.
Fayth trying to mount his opponent but Roach defends it.

Roach is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Fayth has latched onto it... Big trouble! Fayth pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Roach is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Fayth!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ray Fayth!
