PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Jared Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Honda Civic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan's entrance music is I Walk Alone. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Civic got a little sloppy there for a moment and Morgan has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Civic has managed to get both his arms back between Morgan's legs - danger averted.
Morgan is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Civic is controlling him.
Civic controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Civic's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Morgan tries to score a power double leg takedown but Civic sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Morgan somewhat.

Civic does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Morgan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Civic slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Civic would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Civic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Morgan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Civic is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Honda Civic has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

Morgan tries to sprawl but Civic drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Civic is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Morgan doesn't succeed with the takedown

so Civic counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Civic controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Honda Civic.
Morgan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Civic closes the distance and clinches.
Morgan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Civic prevents it.
Morgan is trying to drag Civic to the mat but Civic just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Honda Civic showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Morgan escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Civic gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

and Civic decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Morgan's guard.
Morgan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Civic controls the pace.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Honda Civic hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Civic has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Morgan tries to pull guard but Civic holds him up against the cage and eventually Morgan drops back down to his feet.

Civic breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Civic swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Morgan throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Civic is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Morgan.

Civic feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Civic must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Honda Civic comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Civic has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
