Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Chuck Webster! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dhsid Ciddnick! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Webster tries to clinch and Ciddnick makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Ciddnick tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Webster swivels and escapes. Webster drives through with a takedown into Ciddnick's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Webster wants to stand but Ciddnick has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Webster content to stall in guard here. Webster wants to get up but he can't break Ciddnick's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Ciddnick throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ciddnick can do anything to dispel that myth. Ciddnick looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Webster looking to pass the guard. Webster advances to half guard. Webster performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Ciddnick is looking for a sweep. Webster is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Webster working Ciddnick over with strikes. Webster wants to pass to mount but Ciddnick is defending the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ciddnick trying to get back to full guard but Webster takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount! Webster tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Webster is landing with some decent strikes but Ciddnick is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Ciddnick really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Webster. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Webster takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. The referee warns Ciddnick that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Webster looking to control and managing it successfully. Ciddnick is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Webster locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Ciddnick is forced to tap!
