PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dick Rush (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rock Chesner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dick Rush!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rock Chesner!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Kavanagh and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Chesner.
A head kick misses from Rush.
Chesner takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rush connects with a high kick.
Chesner moves out of range of the strikes.

Chesner gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Rush pressing his opponent against the ropes.
Chesner is trying to drag Rush to the mat but Rush just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Rush lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Chesner goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rush prevents it.
Dick Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rock Chesner.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Rush.
Rush avoids the elbow strike from Chesner, against the ropes.
Chesner tries to break the clinch but Rush is controlling the position.

Rush manages to break the clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Chesner on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rush misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rush misses with a two punch combination.
Rush misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rush throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Chesner shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rush but Rush pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Chesner shoots in but no luck this time.

Rush gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Rush manages to break the clinch.

Chesner rushes Rush and presses him up against the ropes.
Chesner is looking to break free of the clinch but Rush has double underhooks.
Rush with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.
Chesner wants a takedown but no success here.
Chesner looks gassed!

Rush breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Rush throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A combination from Rush does no damage.
Rush misses with a kick to the body.
Decent striking displayed by Rush there.

Chesner drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rush wants to get back to his feet but Chesner is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Chesner decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Rush, up you get!
Chesner tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Rush swivels and escapes.
Chesner takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Chesner tries for a takedown but Rush sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Chesner gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Chesner closes the distance and clinches up with Rush, looking for a takedown. Chesner pushes Rush against the ropes but Rush circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rush connects with a good right hand that stumbles Chesner. Chesner circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rush throws a combination. Chesner tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rush fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Rush swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Chesner shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rush as he jumps to the side.
Chesner moves forwards but Rush connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Rush misses with a takedown attempt - Chesner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Rush gets caught flat footed, as Chesner shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Chesner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Rush is looking to stand up but Chesner isn't so interested in that idea.
Chesner is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Chesner thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Rush wants to stand but Chesner is controlling the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rush trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Chesner keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rush's head.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Chesner changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rush tries to avoid it but Chesner manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rush to the ground. Rush escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Rush looks to land a combination but Chesner avoids it well.
Chesner tries for a takedown but Rush sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Rush lands a two punch combo.
Rush rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Chesner moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Rush misses the shot to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Chesner.

Chesner thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Chesner works to advance to full mount. Rush defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Chesner is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rush is surviving well by controlling Chesner's body position as best he can.
Chesner misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Rush wants to get back to his feet.
Chesner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Rush knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chesner on the ground.
Chesner lands a heavy elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Chesner wants to control the pace but Rush is squirming around nicely.

Chesner has hold of Rush's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Rush manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dick Rush dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Dick Rush is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rush throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Chesner.
Nice takedown defense from Rush. No joy for Chesner on that attempt.
Rush throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Chesner.

Rush shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Rush showed some decent athleticism there.
Chesner is looking to control Rush's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Chesner avoid being mounted?
Rush wants to stand but Chesner has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.
Chesner makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Chesner.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Rush gets to his feet - Chesner follows without any prompting.
Chesner shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Dick Rush seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rush throws a right and a left that Chesner avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rush has Chesner up against the ropes in a clinch.

Chesner breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Chesner closes this distance looking for a takedown but Rush circles away.
Dick Rush has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rock Chesner.

Chesner shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Chesner performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Rush wants to get back to his feet.
Chesner throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Chesner is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Rush!
Chesner wants to take Rush's back here but Rush is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.

Rush wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Rush is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Chesner locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Rush is forced to tap!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Rock Chesner!
