Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jay Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richard Hertz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay Penn is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Penn closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hertz to the mat! Hertz manages to get full guard. Hertz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Penn pushing down on Hertz's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Penn is looking for a kimura but Hertz is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Penn to get the leverage. Penn tries to pass to full mount but Hertz defends it. Hertz moves into full guard.
Penn is standing up over Hertz. Hertz looks to escape but Penn dives into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round. Hertz tries to improve position but can't. Penn swings around for an armbar but Hertz sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Penn's guard. Penn has his foot on Hertz's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hertz works his way back into a safe position though. Penn is looking for a triangle but Hertz pushes his legs off easily.
Penn is breathing heavily. Penn keeping busy on the bottom but Hertz has passed one foot through into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Penn keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Hertz is looking for a kimura but Penn is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hertz to get the leverage. Hertz wants to work for an arm triangle but Penn is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Penn is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hertz jumps into side control! Penn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. That's three minutes gone in the round. Penn tries to get to full guard but Hertz has control of the leg. Hertz thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Penn missing with punches from the bottom.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hertz throws a one two combo.

Hertz lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Penn shoots for a takedown but Hertz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Hertz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Hertz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Hertz throws a half hearted mid kick. Hertz tries a head kick but it misses.
Hertz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jay Penn will probably get the nod. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Penn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Penn shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Penn working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Hertz's thigh. Hertz counters though and makes it back to full guard. Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hertz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hertz is on top in guard.
Hertz wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hertz with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Penn has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Hertz doesn't defend quickly enough and Penn has managed to lock this one up! Can Hertz escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Penn on a fantastic submission victory.
