Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyle Demarce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, James MacDonald! The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Daniel Blasius and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Demarce shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches MacDonald napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. MacDonald tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. MacDonald really wants to buck Demarce off and get back to his feet. Demarce tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. MacDonald is desperately trying to improve his position but Demarce has a good base and remains in mount. Demarce tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Demarce working the ground and pound effectively.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Demarce is standing up, even though he is in mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Demarce forces MacDonald back against the cage and clinches. MacDonald misses with a punch to the body.
MacDonald is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Demarce escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
MacDonald misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Demarce scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Demarce lands a nice short elbow. MacDonald looks winded! Demarce prevents MacDonald from improving his position. MacDonald really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Demarce. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Demarce slips a nice elbow through MacDonald's hands, connecting with MacDonald's forehead. Demarce stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows MacDonald to get to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Demarce moves into range and clinches up with MacDonald. Demarce breaks from the clinch.
Demarce closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. MacDonald did well to prevent Demarce getting side control. Demarce is trying for a kimura here. MacDonald looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Demarce wins by kimura!
