Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Graig Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Barton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Graig Cook has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Graig Cook seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Graig Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Adam Barton! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barton drives through with a takedown into guard. Cook looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barton is one step ahead there. Barton trying to control the position from guard on top but Cook is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Cook pulls Barton in close to prevent any damage. Cook tries to land a sweep but no joy. Barton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Cook has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barton has managed to get both his arms back between Cook's legs - danger averted. Cook tries to land a sweep but no joy. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cook is trying to control the position from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Barton closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cook's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Graig Cook just wasn't active enough. Barton scores with a takedown into Cook's guard. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Cook holds on and takes a little breather. Barton won't allow Cook to sweep him here. Barton gets to his feet. Cook looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Cook is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Barton shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cook manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Barton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Cook looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Cook is looking for a kimura but Barton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Cook to get the leverage. Cook perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Barton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Cook tries to stand and escape but Barton is controlling the position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Graig Cook just wasn't active enough. Barton manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cook on his heels. He'll look to pass Cook's guard now, I'm sure. Barton wants to stand but Cook is controlling his posture from full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cook wants to sweep here but Barton controlling him for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Adam Barton will probably get the nod. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Barton fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Cook checks it well. Barton misses with a leg kick and Cook counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A short right from Cook.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Barton as Cook tries to tie him up. Cook lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. The referee is keeping an eye on Cook - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Cook has Barton pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Cook pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Barton tumbling to the mat - Cook dives into Barton's guard. Barton looking to control.
Cook has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Cook is stalling in the full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cook would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Barton tries to land a sweep but no joy. Our spies down at at Tenacity Elite - 17 Coaches inform us that Barton has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

He catches Cook napping and manages to drive through into side control! Barton is breathing heavily. Cook is not content to let Barton control the position. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Barton tries to move into full mount but can't pass Cook's legs.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cook manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Barton is controlling Cook's position as best he can from this difficult position. Cook working the head and body with strikes. Cook really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Cook is figuring out what he wants to do next. Barton is controlling Cook's trapped leg to prevent Cook from advancing to side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cook with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Adam Barton has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Cook has taken the fight to the clinch.
Barton jumps guard and drags Cook to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Cook is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Graig Cook dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Cook instigates a clinch. Cook scores with a shoulder strike. Cook has Barton pressed against the cage, preventing Barton from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Cook stalling.
Cook swings wildly with an uppercut but Barton uses good head movement to avoid it. Cook gets through Barton's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Cook is fighting off a takedown attempt but Barton is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cook to the mat. Cook regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Barton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Barton stopping the sweep attempt from Cook. Cook doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Cook will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Cook looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Cook is working hard here to advance position. Cook is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Graig Cook overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Cook looking to hit a scissor sweep but Barton is one step ahead there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barton decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Cook looks to land a combination. Barton sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Barton has managed to clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Barton gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Cook.

That's better than Barton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Cook manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Barton gets full guard. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cook with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Graig Cook. I think Cook has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
