Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JayDee Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcos Pavil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, JayDee Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marcos Pavil!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Ryoma Takatsuka and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pavil lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.


It looks like JayDee Penn has been cut.
Pavil throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Penn stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Pavil ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Pavil sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Pavil stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Penn shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pavil sprawls well. Pavil wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Penn gets slowly back to his feet.

Pavil cracks Penn with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Pavil has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Penn to stand back up!


Penn is rocked!
Marcos Pavil seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Penn closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Pavil's guard.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Penn stops Pavil from standing up.
Penn trying to control the position from guard on top but Pavil is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pavil controlling Penn's posture.

We've been hearing good reports from Penn's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Penn looking to sit in guard and control but Pavil gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Penn working for a triangle but Pavil defends it easily.
Pavil is looking to stand up but Penn won't let him.

Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Pavil is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Pavil seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Penn is on top in guard.

Penn is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Penn stops Pavil from standing up.

Pavil wants to get back to his feet but Penn is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Pavil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.
Penn might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Pavil pulls Penn in close to prevent any damage.
Pavil wants to sweep here but Penn controlling him for the moment.
Penn wants to control from the top but Pavil keeps moving.
Penn postures up in Pavil's guard and throws a big left but Pavil blocks it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Pavil looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.

Pavil uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Pavil is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Penn misses with a straight right.
Pavil misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Pavil will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Penn ducks right into an uppercut from Pavil.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penn takes one on the chin but keeps coming.


JayDee Penn's cut is getting worse.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for JayDee Penn. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Penn walks into a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marcos Pavil dominated that round.
The cut man is working on JayDee Penn's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Penn glances at the clock... BAM! Pavil nails him with a big right hand! A momentary lapse in concentration sends Penn crashing to the mat! The referee steps in and this one is over! Damn, Penn is out of it, he thinks the ref is his opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Marcos Pavil!
