Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Don Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bob Baun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baun has chosen 50 Mission Cap - Tragically Hip as his entrance music. Don Hall is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Don Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bob Baun!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baun throws a sloppy head kick and Hall moves out of range easily.

Baun gets a takedown into half guard.
Baun thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Hall's head.
Hall is refusing to be controlled, as Baun sits in half guard.

Hall actively working from the bottom here.
Baun is trying to control the action in half guard but Hall is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Baun is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hall doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Baun.
Hall trying to control but Baun postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baun is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Hall!

Baun goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Hall is on top in guard.
Baun looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Baun escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Baun is trying to control the position but Hall postures up.
Hall wants to stand but Baun is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hall content to stall in guard here.
Baun throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Baun has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hall can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Baun looks gassed!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hall looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Hall trying to control the position from guard on top but Baun is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hall loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hall shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hall showed some decent athleticism there.
Baun tries to roll over but Hall keeps him under control.
Hall passes to side control.

Hall stands up and beckons Baun to his feet.
Baun misses with a takedown

and Hall counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Baun!
Hall throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Baun tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Hall content just to control the position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hall trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Hall is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Baun is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Hall fails to take his opponent's back.
Hall controlling the pace for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hall closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Baun is not content to let Hall control the position.
Baun is trying to get back to half guard.
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Baun keeps working.
Baun is looking for a sweep.
Hall tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Baun is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Baun keeping control of the position.
Hall works his foot free and advances to mount.
Baun is breathing heavily.
Baun wants to control but Hall is having none of it.
Baun is wriggling around trying to escape.
Hall takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Baun is squirming around, avoiding Hall's attempts to control the action.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hall fails to move to back control.
Hall trying to control but Baun is having none of it.

Hall get's back to his feet.
Don Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hall shoots for a double leg takedown but Baun sprawls well. He's pushed Hall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Hall feints and as Baun raises his hands in defense, Hall changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hall trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Baun is looking for a triangle but Hall pushes his legs off easily.
Baun is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hall is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hall slips nicely into half guard.
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Baun keeps working.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hall in particular looking to stall.

Baun actively working from the bottom here.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hall wants to control but Baun is keeping him busy.

Baun is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Hall pulls his head out easily.
Hall with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Don Hall just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Hall tries to work over Baun's front leg with a kick but Baun checks it.

Hall drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Hall is looking to take a break and control but Baun is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Baun struggling a bit here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Don Hall dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Hall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Baun as he jumps to the side.
Hall is looking to clinch but Baun is avoiding it.

Baun shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Hall's guard.
Baun stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hall swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hall bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Baun's guard.
Hall trying to control but Baun is working from the bottom.

Baun had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Hall is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Baun Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Hall's back instead.

Baun looking for the choke but no joy.
Don Hall overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Baun takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hall surviving as best he can, preventing damage.

Baun is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
Hall breaks Baun's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Baun keeping moving, preventing Hall from controlling successfully.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Baun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hall is one step ahead there.
Hall pushes down on Baun's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Baun is refusing to be controlled, as Hall sits in half guard.
Hall trying to control the pace.
Baun is trying to stand up here but Hall is controlling him well.

Baun is looking for a sweep. Hall is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Hall is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Still in half guard, Hall seems content to control.
Hall wants to pass to mount but Baun is defending the position.

Baun looking for submissions off his back.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hall drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Baun looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bob Baun has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hall wants to control from the top but Baun keeps moving.

Baun isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hall stacks Baun on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hall!

And that's the end of the fight!
Don Hall showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Hall, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
