PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ultimate Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Alfredsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ultimate Warrior!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Daniel Alfredsson!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warrior shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Alfredsson but Alfredsson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Warrior ducks under a wild hook from Alfredsson.
Alfredsson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Alfredsson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Warrior gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Alfredsson looks to land a left hand but Warrior moved out of range nicely.

Warrior darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Alfredsson is pressing down on Warrior's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Warrior trying to control the position from guard on top but Alfredsson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Warrior is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Alfredsson is looking for a triangle but Warrior pushes his legs off easily.
Warrior stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Alfredsson swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Warrior throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Warrior postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Alfredsson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Warrior, into his guard.
Alfredsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Warrior is retaining full guard.
Warrior striking off his back but it's not causing Alfredsson any problems.
Warrior can't keep his opponent in guard - Alfredsson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Warrior regains half guard there - taking advantage of Alfredsson's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Alfredsson throws a sloppy head kick and Warrior moves out of range easily.
Warrior tries to clinch there but Alfredsson circles away.
Warrior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Alfredsson tries to avoid it but Warrior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Alfredsson to the ground. Alfredsson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Alfredsson stuffs the takedown attempt from Warrior. Warrior gets slowly back to his feet.
Ultimate Warrior seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alfredsson throws a lazy right hand but Warrior sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Warrior closes the distance and clinches.

Warrior gets a trip takedown into half guard.

Warrior is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Alfredsson is just riding it out for now. Warrior eventually gives up the hold.
Alfredsson makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Alfredsson.
Warrior postures up in Alfredsson's guard and throws a big left but Alfredsson blocks it.

Warrior loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Alfredsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warrior's guard.

Warrior has his foot on Alfredsson's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alfredsson works his way back into a safe position though.

Ultimate Warrior overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Alfredsson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Alfredsson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Alfredsson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Warrior, who protects the arm well.

Alfredsson tries to move to mount but Warrior blocks the move with his legs.

Warrior throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Warrior tries to lock up and control but Alfredsson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ultimate Warrior will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Warrior is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alfredsson sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Alfredsson throws a leg kick which misses Warrior's front leg but catches the back leg as Warrior tries to avoid it.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ultimate Warrior. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alfredsson throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Alfredsson misses with a few strikes there.
Alfredsson lands the left hand.
Warrior tries to close the distance and clinch but Alfredsson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Alfredsson turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Warrior takes the fight into the clinch.
Warrior blocks an uppercut.
Alfredsson misses with a short punch on the inside.

Alfredsson gets through Warrior's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Warrior blocking some punches.
Alfredsson scores with a nice hook to the head.

Alfredsson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
A bone on bone clash there as Warrior blocks the leg kick.
Warrior shoots in looking for a takedown but Alfredsson manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Warrior's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Alfredsson jabs Warrior right on the nose. Warrior blinks but takes it well.

Warrior closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Warrior lands in his opponent's guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Warrior seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Warrior throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Alfredsson works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Alfredsson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Warrior's guard.

Warrior working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Alfredsson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Alfredsson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Alfredsson wants to get back to his feet.
Warrior trying to get back to full guard but Alfredsson takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Warrior has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Alfredsson's lack of action.
Warrior wants to control but Alfredsson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Alfredsson is looking to advance position but Warrior won't allow it.
Alfredsson seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Warrior does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Alfredsson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

I think Alfredsson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Daniel Alfredsson decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
