Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lime Lister! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Amin Rubinstein! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Lister has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rubinstein is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Rubinstein misses with an elbow strike.
Lister lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Lister drops down looking for an ankle pick but Rubinstein pulls his leg out and moves away.
Lister takes the fight into the clinch. Rubinstein with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Rubinstein prevents a takedown attempt there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lime Lister. That's going to take a lot out of him. Rubinstein throws an elbow but it's blocked.
Lister scores with an uppercut up the middle. Lister lands a hook to the side of the head. Lister dodges an elbow strike from Rubinstein.
Lister is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rubinstein looks to throw an elbow but misses. Lister looking for a takedown. Lister blocks an elbow strike. Lister has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rubinstein regains guard immediately. Lister is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
We're going to have a standup here because Lime Lister wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Lister has a takedown stuffed. Rubinstein darts in and clinches Lister up against the cage. Lister goes for a takedown attempt but Rubinstein pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Lister dives in for a single leg takedown but Rubinstein sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Rubinstein throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Lister blocks it with crossed arms. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lister turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lister tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lister has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Lister advances to mount. Lister controlling the position easily from mount. Rubinstein has given up his back here. Will Lister look for the submission or keep pounding away?
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lister is looking for the choke from the back position but Rubinstein is controlling his hands well. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lister controlling from the back. Rubinstein is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Rubinstein is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Lister off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted. Lister has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Rubinstein's body.
Lister has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Rubinstein is defending well but eventually Lister manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Rubinstein has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!
