PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ezra Bright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Ross (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ross comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Boom kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rick Ross is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ezra Bright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Ross!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Ross or perhaps it was just good defense by Bright which made him look bad.
Ross shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Bright darts in and clinches Ross up against the cage.
Ross has Bright pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Bright manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Ezra Bright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Ross.
Bright is trying to stall.
Bright is struggling to control the position.

Bright drags the fight down to the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bright is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Ross is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bright wants to get back to his feet.
Bright thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ross's head.

Ross controlling the position well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ross can do anything to dispel that myth.
Ross tries to roll over but Bright keeps him under control.
Bright throwing shots but Ross is blocking nicely.

Bright throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ross wants to improve his position but Bright is controlling well.
Bright could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ross has his hands clasped together around Bright's back. He's all about the action.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ross is trying to maintain the position but Bright is very close to passing his half guard.
Ross really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bright. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Bright is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Ross doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Bright.
Ross is concentrating on defense, preventing Bright from advancing position.

Ross is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Bright thows a huge punch but Ross dodges it nicely.

Bright has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Ross tries to roll over but Bright keeps him under control.
Bright is breathing heavily.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ross is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Ross keeping hold of Bright's head, controlling as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Rick Ross will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ross changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Bright tries to avoid it but Ross manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Bright to the ground. Bright escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Ross shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Ross was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Ross tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Bright is looking for a sweep.
Ross is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Bright is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rick Ross hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Ross fails with a takedown attempt.
Ross dives in for a single leg takedown but Bright sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Ezra Bright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rick Ross.

Bright is trying to push Ross away but Ross has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Maybe Bright would be better served going for some more strikes rather than trying to control so much.

Ross is trying to drag Bright to the mat but Bright just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Bright is pressed up against the cage. Ross has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Bright down to the mat. Bright avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Ross is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bright sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ross shoots in for a takedown but Bright shows good takedown defense.
Bright misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ross avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rick Ross showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Bright wants to get back to striking at distance but Ross won't allow it.
Ross is looking to take this one to the mat.
Bright is working for takedown but Ross is calmly controlling the position for now.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.

Bright wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bright working hard to break the clinch.
Ross can't get the takedown.

Bright is trying to drag Ross to the mat but Ross just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Rick Ross is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Ezra Bright is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ross bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ross staying calm.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Rick Ross hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Bright tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ross paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Ross is trying hard to land a takedown here. Bright sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Ross closes the distance and clinches up with Bright, looking for a takedown. Ross pushes Bright against the cage but Bright circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bright defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ross.
Bright tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ross defends well and Bright ends up having to push Ross into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Ross has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Bright avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

I would just about give that final round to Rick Ross.
I've got Ross winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
