Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rockmeteller Todd! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Buddie Rivera! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rivera takes a swing at Todd's ribcage but misses. Rivera bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Rivera swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Rivera pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Rivera keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Todd throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Rivera counters with a stiff right hand. Todd misses with a low kick.
Rivera tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Todd swivels and escapes. Rivera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Buddie Rivera seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Todd blocks a low kick nicely. Todd bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Rivera's head. A big left from Todd misses. Crunch! Rivera slams his shin into Todd's torso. Todd misses with a body shot.
Todd thows a body shot but no joy. Rivera shoots in and drives through. Todd sprawls well. Rivera throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Rivera, right into the meat.
That's one minute gone in the round. Todd tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rivera was well out of range. Poor timing from Todd. Todd keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rockmeteller Todd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddie Rivera. A leg kick checked by Todd. Todd throws a jab but it's blocked by Rivera. Rivera shoots in for a double leg but Todd sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Todd misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rivera fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Todd looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Rivera blocks a leg kick. Rivera thows a leg kick but Todd checks it and Todd counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Rivera lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Rivera lands a nice looking body kick. Todd scores with a jab to the head.
Rivera lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Todd at a distance.
Rivera throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rivera scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rivera smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Todd looks to land a left hand but Rivera moved out of range nicely. Rivera is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Todd rather than just go for the knockout. A good leg kick by Rivera. Rivera slips a straight right by Todd. Todd takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rivera throws a leg kick but Todd sees it coming and moves out of range. Todd attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Rivera dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Rivera scores with a head kick. Todd tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Good shot there by Rivera. Todd misses with an uppercut. Rivera saw that one coming. Rivera does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Rivera changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Todd looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Todd can't do much from the bottom here. Rivera trying to control the position but Todd is working away.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rivera wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Todd, who protects the arm well. Rivera in side control, throwing shots but Todd defends.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Todd is looking to reverse the position. You can see the frustration on Todd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rivera trying to control the action but Todd is working from the bottom. Rivera is trying to get an arm triangle but Todd is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rivera fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buddie Rivera dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Todd throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Rivera stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rivera looks for a takedown but Todd sprawls well. Rivera fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Todd checks it well. Rivera fails with the takedown. Rivera drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
It looks like Buddie Rivera has been cut. Todd throws a series of punches but Rivera moves out of range. Todd throws a wild body kick that Rivera sees coming a mile off. Todd dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Todd checks a low kick from Rivera. Todd thows a left - swing and a miss! Rivera throws a head kick but Todd moves out of range.
Buddie Rivera seems to be getting the better of the standup. Rivera scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Rivera wants to lay and pray for a moment but Todd keeps working. Todd defending against the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. You can see the frustration on Todd's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rivera working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Rivera thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Todd is not content to let Rivera control the position. Rivera misses with the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Todd is not content to let Rivera control the position. Rivera throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Todd works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure. Rivera not landing any meaningful shots this time. Rivera is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Todd doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rivera.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Todd keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Rivera trying to mount his opponent but Todd defends it. Todd is looking to improve his position.
Todd is defending against the submission attempts here by Rivera.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rivera is working for a kimura but Todd is defending it quite comfortably.
Buddie Rivera has got the better of the ground game so far. Rivera seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Todd does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Todd slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Rivera advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Buddie Rivera showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Buddie Rivera's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Todd stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Rivera. We've been told by Todd's head coaches at Slaughterhouse MMA (Redesigned) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Todd rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Rivera counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Todd is lucky that one didn't land flush. Rivera lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Todd at a distance.
Todd checks the leg kick nicely there.
Todd stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Todd wants it to stay on the feet. Rivera's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Todd connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Rivera scrambles back to his feet. Todd on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Rivera tries to work over Todd's front leg with a kick but Todd checks it. Todd keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rivera throws a chopping leg kick but Todd manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Rivera tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Todd thuds a left hand into Rivera's body. Todd looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Rivera gets cracked there but stands up to it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Rivera thumps Todd with a low kick. Todd just misses with a punch to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Todd scores with a jab to the jaw. Rivera avoids the body shot from Todd.
Rivera throws a nice inside leg kick. Todd throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rivera. Rivera steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Todd. Rivera scoring well with a low kick there.
Rivera goes for a double leg but Todd avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Todd continues to drive forward. Rivera slowing the pace effectively. Rivera tries to work over Todd's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Rivera stalling in the clinch but Todd improves position. A head punch on the inside from Todd fails to land. Todd is trying to stall.
Rivera is looking for a takedown. Rockmeteller Todd has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Buddie Rivera.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Todd prevents a body shot from Rivera. Rivera is trying to maintain a safe position but Todd gets an underhook and turns Rivera into the cage. Todd lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Todd misses with some punches.
Rivera is trying to break the clinch but Todd has him pressed against the cage. Todd misses with a hook to the ribs.
Todd tries to throw a body punch but Rivera avoids it by throwing Todd back against the cage. Todd can't find room to land a body shot as Rivera controls the action.
Todd lands a body punch in the clinch. Rockmeteller Todd has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Todd is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A short right hand to the side of the head by Todd. A head punch on the inside from Todd fails to land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rivera. Todd lands a shoulder strike. Rivera manages to pull guard.
Rivera is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Rivera looking to control.
Todd knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rivera on the ground. Todd wants to control from the top but Rivera keeps moving. Rivera looking to control but Todd passes into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Todd throwing shots but Rivera is blocking nicely. Todd trying to pass the guard but Rivera defending well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Rivera trying to control from the bottom.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rockmeteller Todd. I think Rivera has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
