PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christoper Puckett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Richie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Christoper Puckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, James Richie!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Richie instigates a clinch.

Richie gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Puckett regains guard.
Puckett trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.
Richie is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Puckett keeping moving, preventing Richie from controlling successfully.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Richie hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Richie throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Puckett tries to score a power double leg takedown but Richie sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Puckett somewhat.

Richie moves into the clinch successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Richie breaks the clinch.
Puckett is looking to clinch but Richie is avoiding it.
Puckett shoots in but Richie avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Richie rushes Puckett and presses him up against the cage.

Richie has Puckett pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Richie pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Puckett tumbling to the mat - Richie dives into Puckett's guard.

Richie wants to pass the guard but Puckett is keeping the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. James Richie wasn't active enough on the ground.

Richie shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Puckett's guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Puckett looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Richie has picked Puckett up and slammed him! Puckett can't keep hold of the triangle and Richie manages to pass to side control!

The referee asks Richie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Richie prefers to stall for the moment though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Puckett manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Richie throwing shots but Puckett is blocking nicely.
Puckett wants to get back to full guard.
Puckett is looking to get back to full guard here but Richie has managed to pass to side control instead.
Puckett tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Richie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Puckett is breathing heavily.
Richie cracks Puckett with a big right hand but Puckett just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Richie has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Puckett!
Richie lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Puckett is looking to improve his position but Richie isn't that keen on the idea.
A nice elbow there by Richie.
Puckett really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Richie fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Richie dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Richie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Puckett manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Richie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Puckett is rocked!
Puckett gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Oh Puckett is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
A big strike lands for Richie! That's really hurt Puckett and he's turned his back - Richie keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Richie jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:54 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Richie!
